Oh Dear (Astraea and Myrnin)

[Amelie]

Amelie looked out of place in the dark underground of the Tunnels. For starters, she herself was extremely pale and had light colored hair. Add that to the white fitted blazer she wore and the white dress pants with the slight flare to the cuffs and she seemed to be blazingly bright down here. But she was a common sight. She visited Myrnin often, considering it wasn't smart to allow him to come up into the real world that often. He wasn't stable enough for that. Well...not that he always listened to her when she said that. He had a mind all his own, crazy as it was.

The heels to her white shoes clicked as she moved down through the winding tunnels, making no effort to slow her pace for the fledgling who followed after her. She often gave new assisstants to Myrnin, being that he needed them to stay focused, and after he had...well fired to put it lightly...his last assistant, Amelie had spent some serious time looking for the new one. She didn't need him killing another one, she got bad press as it was for giving him new ones...but she never pressured the girls he brought in for Myrnin to work with, simply paid them.

This one seemed good for Myrnin. She was like Claire, Myrnin's overly sentient cat, in a way. Shy, unimposing and very very smart. Smart was always a requirement. Myrnin needed assistants who could keep up...or at least come close to keeping up, with Myrnin's genuis level IQ...when he was in his right mind at least. The shy ones always lasted longer...they didn't impose on Myrnin and make him angry.

She turned to face the girl when they arrived at the door to the laboratory Myrnin had gotten for himself. She looked down at her, taking in this girl. She did so hope she would doo well. "Just don't let him boss you around. He'll turn into a bully that way." That was her only words of advice. Her only form of comfort for this girl, for she did not do comfort, no emotion flickered across the icy face of Amelie Bishop before she turned to open Myrnin's door and enter the lab.

She entered, making no announcement other then her heels on the floor, passing to semi-fondly stroke Claire from her head to the tip of her tail, before walking further in and smiling ever so slightly when she saw the crazy Alchemist she had practically grown up with. "Hello Myrnin. Meet Astraea Dike, your new assisstant. Play nice" she said as a way of greeting, stepping aside to allow Myrnin to see the fledgling. She wouldn't leave until she was sure the girl was safe. She did not wish to ruin another investment because she was unsure of Myrnin's mental state. That would simply not do.

[Astraea Dike]

Raea was following an icy woman clad in white everything in the tunnels of the Depot. To say Raea was scared....Ohhh yes. She was very scared. She never was in the Depot before and she was scared of the feral red fledglings that lived there, so she stuck close to the woman, but not too close, she could tell this woman liked her space. Raea held Dana close to her and Dana whined slightly, but Raea shushed her before the sound could leave Dana's throat.

Raea was wearing mostly black, the House's uniform pretty much. She wore flat shoes, which made little noise compared to the woman's white high heels clicking in the tunnels. Raea was to become a red vampyre's new assistant, Myrnin Raea thought his name was. The woman said that she would pay her well if she took this job, so Raea took the job, not only for money but for a little...confidence boost.

Raea stopped suddenly when Amelie turned around and looked down at her. Don't let her boss her around, he'd turn into a bully. She nodded quickly and spoke. "Yes ma'am." Raea was very polite to this woman, she was a little scared but she followed Amelie without hesitation.

Raea followed her and saw Amelie pet a cat, must be Myrnin's pet. Dana wagged her tail a little and Raea continued, setting Dana on the ground. Dana stuck close by Raea, in strange places Dana always stuck close to her master. Amelie stepped aside to reveal the man she would be working with. Raea smiled a little and...didn't really know what to do. The man, from the back, looked slightly, crazy. She honestly had no idea if she should shake his hand or not. So she scooped Dana up in her arms again and smiled. "Nice to meet you, sir." Raea said softly, but loud enough for him to hear.

Scared? Maybe. Scared that this was going to be one of the hardest jobs of her life? She knew that. Was this red vampyre crazy, if he was Raea hoped she wouldn't go crazy as well.

[Myrnin]

Myrnin was in his lab fiddling with a whole bunch of things. It was something that he always did because he was Myrnin. He poured mixtures after mixtures together and on some days just hoped they wouldn't blow up. He sighed as he poured one Mixture into another and then let it sit there.

He ran his fingers through his shoulder length hair and he watched it waiting to see if the right reaction would come up. He knew it would, it almost always did. When he was in his right mind of course.

He scoffed as he though that, pulling some blood from his old coats pocket as he did. He drank it slowly. Amelie was bringing him his new assistant today. He needed to be not so..hungry. He had ate his last few assistants.

Much to Amelie's dismay.

He shrugged and went back to watching the chemicals, wondering why the reaction was taking so long.

"Maybe it's cus you left one component out"a voice whispered across his mind and he turned to the left of him to find Ada standing there in her ghostly form. "Actually dear I am quite sure I got them all in" he said with a small but polite smile.

She didn't answer him and he dusted off his coat with its ruffles and then watched the chemical finally change color. He grinned then turned toward Ada. "See"he said triumphantly.

Ada disappeared then so he knew Someone was coming and sure enough the door opened. He didn't turn to see, he just heard his little cat purring and he smiled. Clair was always very fond of Amelie.

Amelie spoke saying this was his new assistant and Myrnin finally turned so he could get a good look at the girl. She was a lot shorter then him and She seemed scared. She was also holding a dog.

Myrnin smiled as she said it was nice to meet him, he smelled...fear. He gulped slightly, he had just had blood he should be fine and then turned to Amelie and kissed her hand lightly before turning to the girl. He decided to be direct.

"Welcome...do you Miss think you can keep up with me? Amelie has brought you so that speaks highly of you, but do you think you can manage? he said strongly testing her.

[Amelie]

Amelie had to fight the slight need to sigh when she entered the lab. Myrnin was talking to Ada again. The assistant he had killed. Quite some time ago in fact. He would be talking to her when Amelie brought him his new assisstant, wouldn't he? It was bad for buisness, if she was going to think in buisness terms. Best not to when it came to Myrnin, in fact. He tended to do as he pleased, though he often did please her in the process. If it wasn't broke...though he was most broke most days. At least he seemed mostly sane today.

She tried not to sigh--again--when the girl seemed practically to tremble. She needed to grow a backbone when it came to this man or she'd end up just like all the others, and Amelie did not want that. That waas just a bother. Then she would have to go entirely out of her way to get him a new assistant and she was a busy vampyre. Busy crushing all notion of her father. And forgetting about Sam. She closed her eyes briefly and forced herself not to think of him.

She smiled ever so faintly, a bit of her ever present ice melting ever so slightly when Myrnin kissed her hand. She was fond of him in the detatched way she was fond of certain people. She said nothing, looking between the two. If she thought this Astraea Dike couldn't handle him, she would pull the girl out now rather then have another dead fledgling to explain off. But if Amelie hadn't felt at least some sort of confidence in this girl in the first place then she wouldn't be down here, being introduced to Amelie's old friend.

[Astraea Dike]

Raea watched him kiss Amelie's hand and then he turned to her, and asked if she could handle this. Come on Raea he's not Kalona. He you can handle! Raea stood up straighter and nodded. "Yes sir I think I can, anything you need me to do and I'll do it." Raea said, confidence in her voice, although deep inside she didn't feel very confident, but she had to prove herself, not only to Myrnin but to her father, even if he never knew. She had to prove she could have a job and still keep her grades, not to mention make the Change. She knew she wouldn't cough and die from this. He was a vampyre, he may be a red one, but one vampyre was enough for her to survive, and it only was for a few hours a day.

Dana looked at the cat and wagged her tail. "Sir, do you mind if I bring Dana? She won't bother you or your cat, she really is a good dog she won't bother you." Dana barked in agreement and nodded, wagging her tail at Myrnin, trying to sniff his hand. Raea held her head high and let her affinity lose a bit, sending a confident air about the room, though she doubted it would work on Myrnin, she wasn't so sure about red vampyres, mostly because she was never around one for that long before.

[Myrnin]

Myrnin wasn't a very patient man so naturally today he wasn't in a very patient mood. You would think that with him being the alchemist that he was, he would have developed that virtue. Myrnin would tell you that it was because of the alchemy that he did not possess that virtue. He smiled inwardly at his own private joke.

He didn't even know why his mind had gone off on that little tangent. He mentally shook his head. He had to keep his wits about him, now was not the time for him to go crazy.

Myrnin noted that Amelie was just standing there in her ice like way and he just shook his head at her. Always the ice woman.

The girl spoke up now, she was trying to look confident. How cute. He gave her an A for effort though..or was it E? ..he thought slipping again darling? Ada whispered and he shook his head, probably seeming crazy to his assitant and to Amelie

Well at least Amelie was used to it.

He didn't answer Ada instead her turned to the girl and answered her.

"Good. you have to be smart, otherwise Amelie would not have brought you to me. I will expect nothing less from you, understood?"it came out hard but it was okay. He could be nice later. Now she needed to know what he expected of her.

She started him with her next question and he looked at the dog she was holding. It wasn't up to him if it was alright for the dog, to stay. It was up to Claire.

"Oh it's not up to me...Claire?"the little kitten came running up to him then stopped and jumped onto his shoulder before licking his face, he pet the scruff of her neck and then pointed to the dog, Claire leaned close and sniffed the dogs face then licked Myrnins. Go sign.

"Claire says he can come.."he smiled then looked at Amelie..there was something he wanted to be out in the open he walked towards her then said

"You told her about the others right?"he asked politely disregarding Ada giggling in his head.

[Amelie]

Amelie just hoped Myrnin didn't scare the girl away. She, personally, was used to his antics, and didn't care much what the girl thought of them. As long as she didn't up and leave. It had taken her long enough for her to find this one. This Astraea. She seemed frightened, but was making a good attempt to not appear that way at the very least, that made her feel a little bit better about leaving this little chick with the big bad wolf. Though Myrnin was behaving himself as well.

She was faintly amused at Claire's antics. The kitten practically helped run this lab as it was. She suspected that at one point or another Myrnin had experimented on the cat to make her as sentient as she was, or maybe Claire had just naturaly be like that. Myrnin did have a habit of not wanting to deal with anything that wasn't smart enough to have the semblance of keeping up with him.

She gave a distasteful look to the spider on the table next to her and turned her attention back to Myrnin who was now actually speaking to her. He was being polite. How amusing. She nodded. "I would not have let her agree to this job had I not warned her of your little habit of eating your assistants." she said, still looking unhapily at the spider. It was not something she enjoyed being near, not that Amelie gave any mention of it. But she turned her attention back to Myrnin then, actually looking at him and giving him one of her icier looks. "You will not eat this one Myrnin. I will not hear of it. Understood?" she said, her very tone saying how she was used to being listened to.

Used to being obeyed was more like it. Amelie was a formidible force.

[Astraea Dike]

Raea watched Myrnin and Amelie, scratching behind Dana's ear. Myrnin and Amelie probably knew that she was just acting, but she was starting to feel better in this place, a little better than being in Kalona's but she knew she needed to toughen up, and she knew this would be the right way to do it. Hold her own, besides, she was used to crazy, Cris and Miyuki were going crazy and she was a little herself, a crazy boss would be OK.
Claire, his cat, sniffed Dana's face and Dana's tail wagged a little and tried to lick the cat, but Raea held her close. Claire licked Myrnin's face and he said she could stay! ”Oh thank you sir! She really is a smart girl, she can help too if you'd let her.” Dana nodded and held her paw out, as if to shake his hand. ”I think she wants you to shake her hand.” Raea said, giggling slightly.

Of course Amelie told her about the others! And she took the job anyway...but she didn't tell her father or Pride about it...Oh boy. ”Yes she told me about them, sir, and I'm still here, ready to work for you sir.” Raea said, Dana barking at the end of her sentence, agreeing with her, Dana was ready to work too. She patted Dana's head and the dog's tail wagged. ”So when do I start?” Raea asked, setting Dana back down on the ground.
Raea then looked around the room, looking closely at, what she guessed, his current experiment. She rose her eyebrow at it and tried to figure out what he was trying to do, she knew he was an alchemist, but for that experiment she didn't know what he was trying to do, and she knew why, she didn't see his procedure. What did he do? Well Raea would just have to ask him now wouldn't she?...Maybe not now, Amelie gave her the creeps, she was a cold woman, like ice.

Dana must have sensed it too because she was on the other side of the woman. Raea took out one of her new books on Greek mythology (thank you Daddy!) and read a few pages on a goddess, Hera, but she closed the book and put it away, nothing very interesting, yet. Vampyres always had something up their sleeves, and these two were no different. Pride loved mysteries...and it seemed like his love for them was starting to rub off on Raea.

[Myrnin]

Myrnin was faintly amused by what Amelie had just said, He was happy that she had told this girl about his assistants of the past, This way he wouldn't have to have the awkward conversation himself. But what Really amused him was what she had said about him not killing this one and it being an order. His mouth quirked a bit and he kissed her hand leaning down and then said

"Oh I wouldn't dream of disobeying you dear"he said, he was being sarcastic of course. Myrnin had no plans of killing this assistant. but he didn't want to listen to What Amelie said either, Crazy he may be but no one told him what to do.

He turned his attention back to his assistant and listened as she thanked him for letting her dog be there, he waved her off and then raised an eyebrow when the dog raised his paw. How amusing.

"Lovely to meet you."He shook the dogs paw and he dropped it after wards, petting Claire who was mewing against his neck one second and then jumping to the table the next second, She mewed looking at bob and Myrnin smiled. Claire may dislike Bob but she always reminded him to feed him.

"I hope you don't mind Spiders, because Bob is a permanent part of the family"he said walking over to his large spider and then pouring flies into his cage, Then he turned toward her again

She said she was still willing to work for him and he nodded, that took bravery since this job had the chance of being killed by your own boss. He shrugged, Science was a risk in general.

She asked when she got to start and he smiled and said "Right now...We are studying how to stop the Reds from becoming Feral..it;'s important and you will be here every day to work on it. If you show any sign of not being able to keep up...your out."he said strongly.

Now that that was settled he sat down on his stool and took off his shoes, That Amelie had made him wear, He then took out his vampire bunny slippers and put them on, feeling Relaxed and waiting for Amelie's distaste to show.

[Amelie]

Amelie was a mix of emotions when it came to Myrnin. In one way, she hated how he was never quick to snap to what she wanted, hated how he would tease her and be sarcastic about the things she asked for. But in the other hand, she was always amused by the way he would stand up to her when few other's did. He was always the first to make her realize she was being too serious. Always the only one to make her smile. And that made her yearn for the old days when they used to meet at the fountain and he would make her laugh. She wasn't sure she remembered how to laugh anymore. And part of her hated him for making her yearn the way he did.

So she wasn't sure whether to scowl at him or smile when he kissed her hand and spoke. I do mean it Myrnin." She said sternly. He could joke around all he wanted and she knew he would. But she needed to make sure that was registering with him. That he couldn't eat this one. That was not allowed. Even if the little girl seemed more afraid of her then she was of him. How amusing.

Just wait for one of his off...well not days. More like hours. He fluctuated too much to judge by days. Amelie frowned her distaste as Myrnin fed the spider and Astraea asked what it was that she was doing. She supposed she had no more buisness here, if he chose to get to work straight away with her, then that was his buisness. And then he changed his shoes and she knew he was waiting for a reaction from her. But instead of showing the distaste she so strongly felt...she smiled at him. He was the only one that got her. He derserved a small smile. Small.

He killed this one and what he deserved woould change drastrically. She shook her head before patting Claire semi-fondly on the head. "Progress please Myrnin. Progress." she said in parting. Secretly....Amelie harbored the hope that her Sam was a red somewhere, whoo was simply too mad to contact her. If that was true...she wanted this madness fixed...She wondered if Myrnin knew that's why she wanted this so badly. "I shall see you later old friend. Good Luck Astraea" she said.

And then she was gone.

[Astraea Dike]

Raea sighed and thought about things for a minute. Those two got along well, and Amelie didn't want her to be eaten, that would not be good if that ever happened, her father AND Pride would go after Myrnin, along with the BP, he'd have a bunch of people after his hide.

Raea smiled and kissed Dana's head, "Good girl." Raea whispered to her dog, she was sure Myrnin and Amelie had heard that, but she didn't care. She loved Dana and was glad the dog was on her best behavior. She looked around and then saw a spider. Not just any spider, a HUGE spider. Dana made a sound and cocked her head to the side. Raea shook her head. "I don't mind spiders, I'm not scared of them." That was true, she wasn't scared of spiders at all, she was scared of oranges, that was it.

Raea listened to Myrnin and nodded. She liked this experiment, her friends would benefit from this greatly if it worked. "I'll keep up I promise." Raea said, she wanted to help him with this experiment, her friends were very important to her, and a feral Justin wouldn't be good, she heard stories of when they first found him...He almost ate Casper, she wouldn't want that to happen to other fledglings.

Wait a minute. Did he just put on vampyre bunny slippers? Dana even looked confused at that, but Raea knew he was a bit...Crazy, and whatever made him happy and not eat her she was fine. Amelie wished her good luck and Raea nodded, thanking her silently for both the job and the advice. Dana barked once and wagged her tail, ready to help.

[Myrnin]

Myrnin was not concerned with Amelie and her disapproving looks. Or when she had said that she meant it about him not killing this girl. Myrnin had absolutely no intention of killing this girl but that had nothing to do with it being Amelie's order. He needed an assistant who could keep up with his intellect. Apparently this girl was it.

He smiled as Amelie left and raised an eyebrow as the girl talked to the dog, not that he minded being that he frequently talked to bob and Ada and Claire. See Myrnin could never be alone he always had a full conversation going on in his head. He smiled at that, it was a bit of a sad one as well. Oh well.

I don't like this girl Myrnin..Myrnin sighed as Ada whispered that too him. Myrnin didn't dignify that with an Answer. Ada never liked any of his assistants because she wanted him all to herself. Selfish but lovable girl that she was.

Astraea speaking brought him out of the thoughts he was having as she said she was not scared of spiders. Bob was big enough to eat a baby. She wasn't scared? That was impressive.

"Good" was all he said as he sat there.

He was very comfy now that he got to put his vampire bunny slippers on. They made him feel comfortable and like home but the girl seemed to be perplexed by them so she was staring at them. Looked like she thought that they were going to eat her.

He brought his foot up and screamed "Raahhh!!"as if the slippers would eat her and then he laughed.

"They are slippers. They don't bite. I do. Remember that. If there is anything that is important. Don't get comfortable. Be on your toes. You never know..one day i could be your friend..The next you could be my snack. "he stressed quietly.

Raea wasn't scared of the spider, but Dana seemed a little freaked. She made sure Dana's eyes weren't on the Bob so she put the dog on the ground and she sat closely to Raea. She took a treat out of her purse and fed it to Dana, who munched on it happily. She then looked back up and gasped in surprise then giggled when Myrnin spooked her with those slippers. Raea figured that some moments he'd act like a little kid and other's he could go into a crazed rage. He got very serious and said pretty much the same thing she thought at the moment. "Got it." Raea said with a nod.

She looked around the lab again and saw Dana sniffing a table leg near Myrnin.
