Red wandered the halls, hugging her chest. What had happened?
She had a headache and everything was a blur: the flying emotions around her were making her nauseous. With the redhead's newfound sensitivity for auras, it was even worse then it would have been a year ago. She could feel the distress emanating from all around her: from through the walls, the floor, the ceiling. She could barely separate her own emotions from the ones invading the space around her, reality from the illusion that encased her. She could almost see it's walls closing in around her, invisible but suffocating...
She kept walking, feet padding hesitantly, and shut her eyes, as if that would shut out the noise around her. Downstairs: screams. Or was that laughter? Around her, in the locked upstairs doors, whispers, the throbbing orange of pain. And the blood-red tinge of betrayal...
At that thought blue eyes snapped open, and the girl found herself staring at the entrance to a strangely empty room. It seemed to, in some way, reek of her: but not in smell. She curiously, dreamily, stepped inside.
The reason Red was still so calm was because, in all honesty, she couldn't convince herself that this wasn't all just some kind of Nightmare. Stolen from the school dance and, without any of the knowing, transported to this house where their screams went unheard... and no one knew? Not even Seph, who was the one who always protected them?
All because, apparently, of Raea.
But the man was only interested in some kind of demented game: not Red's brunette roommate, but her innocence. Sounded like some kind of pedophile to her. But it was all too unreal, all too... abstract to be happening. But the voices, the murmurs, screams, whispers, moans, laughs, in her head were distancing her from the present...
Until they stopped.
Suddenly, in a flash, the silence was so deep it frightened her, and Red spun to see the door was closed--the open door she'd just entered through. She couldn't hear the sounds or emotions from around her, and, while the clarity was welcomed, it left her uneasy. Had they found a way out?
Had they left her?
That left Red frozen, but not surprised. Why would they save her? Hadn't it been she who fell in love with their greatest enemy? She had shunned him after he broke her heart, it was true, and they didn't know about the fact that she'd begun to fall for him again...
Or did they?
Red's hand flew up to her throat, staring at the closed door, eyes wide.
Weren't the BP known for their plots? And they'd never understood her attraction for the immortal--perhaps, if they found out of her treachery, even after what had happened to her, they figured she was a lost cause? Better off dead? What if this was not about Raea at all, but about her? They could very easily have spun this trap, with their skill, and sent this man to teach her the lesson she well deserved...
Her heart hammered loudly against her ribcage.
All this for a man. A man, she knew, who would never save her from this plight.
God, how could she be so stupid? Twice in a row--the second time after being fully aware of his tricks, she fell for him, using the one weakness he had that was--stupid--hers as well. And he cared nothing for her. She'd lost her friends for him, maybe, depending on the appetite of her sadistic capturer, her life.
And she knew better then to think he'd care.
COMMENTS. Okayyyy so her affin, for some reason, isn't working. Not sure if Julian's doing that or she's just having a freak-out, but there it is. Let me know if I should change anything. ;]
