It had been a while since the last time he had bumped into the lovely Sephora. A while since she had left him on the beach and part of him had longed to go after her. Like a sappy stupid prince in some novel. Like he was in love or something. Oh no, that word was not allowed anywhere near Seth Horus, thank you. That word had already tore him down, ripped him up into little tiny pieces and spat him out. It had taken him this long to come back to himself. To harden himself against love, just take challenges, and move on once the challenge was won. Sephora’s challenge was still on. Part of him wondered if he should drop it.

See, usually when he had a challenge, he got in, he got out, and he was good. No need for any love, and if the chick had fallen for him well then that really wasn’t his fault now was it. She should have listened to the rumor mill and realized what he was. Or really, they should just learn love was bull. The challenges took a while, they entertained him, but once he won, what was the point?

Sadly he found himself often sitting here realizing he wanted to win the challenge that was Sephora purely so that he could have her once he had won her. But he didn’t work like that! He didn’t do the whole…relationship thing. He had done it once and obviously the other chick had been much less interested than he had been, so that had been that. Move on, done with, do not work that way anymore! So what was it about Sephora that turned him all inside out? What was it about her that made him stop and think twice, or smile when he thought about the way her lips twitched up in a sign of amusement even when she was trying so hard to be unmoved.

He paused in his run, realizing what he was thinking, that he was sitting here thinking about something cutesy like that, and shook his head. Dammit she was in his head. He took off running again, his sneakers hitting solid ground as he took the same path he always did, the one he knew wouldn’t be wet and muddy from the snow. Not that it bothered him to get dirty, in fact Seth loved getting his hands dirty, but it was just easier to run that way. The fine sheen of sweat from the run shone on his arms, being that he was just in a black wife beater and sweats, and he tugged his ski cap down farther on his head cause it felt like it was coming off. He always ran, but now he felt like he was running from something.

Namely his feelings. Fuck, who had those anymore anyway? They were bullshit and he’d outlaw them if he could. Yes, yes he would.

He chuckled a bit to himself and paused on his morning run, snagging water from where he always left it by the tree where he started and taking a long swig. His run always took him by where the courtyards met the forest and he had been running long enough that people had started to actually wake up. He leaned against the tree to survey said people who had actually begun to wander about, lazy asses. How long did it take you to wake up. Wiping a drip of sweat from his brow with his forearm, his eyes scanned the yard before him, wondering if there was anything worth actually looking at.

See, usually Seth only bothered with his one challenge when he had a challenge and he focused on it like it was red and he was a bull. Because, it helped with the challenge if they thought that he was interested in only them, like that was true, but he had to make appearances, of course. Seph, however, was entirely throwing him off. He debated flirting just to take his mind off of her and so he wouldn’t think about the stupid emotion called love again for another five minutes at the very least. He just needed a little peace! Would it kill his emotions to give him a moment off to not be constantly bombarded? Was that so wrong? Well…maybe.

He didn’t really care though.

His eyes caught sight of a tiny blonde girl, seemed easily flustered but also like she could take a complement well. Perhaps a bit of a flirt? Nice set of ass-sets too. He grinned a bit. Yep, that’ll do. He took another swig of his water, made sure he didn’t smell too rank, though he doubted it, and headed over that way, water bottle still in hand.

And within moments he had said girl laughing and flirting right back, leaning towards him, totally interested. Did good for his self esteem and he couldn’t help grinning. Yep, he still had it. He’d be bored in a day with this one though, she gave in too easily. He preferred the whole, witty banter thing. But this, this was good for killing time and helping him to remember that he was a flirt first. A charmer who liked to have girls begging for his attention, or at least willing for a kiss. He was an ass but he liked it that way, and he fully knew and admitted what he was, why be anything else.

To his credit, though she leaned on him, touching his arm…he didn’t touch her back. No, he didn’t stop her from touching him, but hey. When it came to Seth, him not touching another chick was a big deal. For some reason he thought it would be wrong. Besides, he preferred touching a certain beauty who always melded so nice to his body…and with that he thought was on a totally different track and he had to blink and force himself back to the present, though his body very much so wanted to relive that memory. Hell his brain didn’t oppose that much.

It was a good thing he hadn’t been listening to this chick in the first place, otherwise she may have noticed him tune it out. As it was, she turned a pretty pink when he turned towards her and brushed that soft blonde hair out of her eyes. He had broken his no touching rule, but hey, desperate times desperate measures. And he grinned a bit. ”You know, your eyes are the exact same color as the sky. It’s quite enchanting” he flirted, forgetting about a darker blue set of eyes and losing himself in flirting with another girl.

What could he say? He was an ass.

Seph was sitting on her bed in her room that she shared with her over bubbly room mate and best friend and she was staring out the window, sighing.

Why she was sighing, she had no idea. Raine wasn't here, to which Seph wasn't surprised about. Raine was either off at dance or off with her new boyfriend, whom Seph didn't dislike, he did her tattoo and he seemed to actually care about Raine. Which made it a win win for Seph.

Still back to the point she was sitting here staring out the window sighing and she didn't even really know why she was doing it. She was just bored...She could have went looking around for the pack and see what they were up too but she didn't feel like it.

She had tried reading too, but that just ended up just as badly as sitting there watching the wind blow the branches around. Seph had been reading one of her favorite books, the heroine had finally got the bad guy but no so bad guy she had been chasing backed into a corner, figuratively speaking.

Then when it seemed that she was finally going to win and get the information she wanted, the guy kissed her and she gave in to it, kissing him back and then the story blacked out and came back with her waking up next to him...

What the fuck?! That had been what Seph thought when she had read that part. Wasn't she supposed to get her information and go save the day? How the hell did she end up getting side tracked by some guy? What the hell was that about?

Seph hated that, she hated when the Heroine let a man throw her off of her game and end up sleeping with him. Seph sat there huffing as she looked out the window.

What really bothered her though, was her thought processes as this was going on. When she was thinking about the Heroine in the book, she had placed herself in her place when reading it...and when she thought about the guy...

Seph stood shaking off the thought, no there was no way that she was going to admit that she was thinking about Seth Horus while reading one of her favorite novels. Seph groaned and leaned her head against the window her long hair falling in front of her face a bit.

That was right, she had been thinking about him, she had him in the place of the guy. What did that mean? No that didn't mean anything it wasn't allowed to mean anything. Seph started pacing around her room as she thought of the last time she had been around him.

The beach in Atlantis, Seph felt a feeling she didn't want to recognize stir inside of her stomach as she thought about it. They kissed, the had fun...and Seph had run out at the last minute, she was scared of how he made her feel and how he made her want to be closer to him...how she wanted to kiss him...

Seph groaned and kicked the edge of her bed stubbing her toe, "Ah shit!!"she yelled before plopping back down on her bed. She sighed, she needed to not think about this, the more she thought about this, the more she got upset and screwed up and stubbed her toe on the metal edge of her bed.

She needed out, she needed out and she needed it right now. She stood and took off her yoga type clothes to put on her normal garb. Grunge Grunge Grunge. She took out a pair of black skinny jeans that she had cut holes in the front of and tugged them on followed by her black combat boots and then pulling on a black tank top and her white long sleeved shirt that she cut up but still had BITCH written in all caps across the top before strapping her Epee to her waist, running her fingers through her hair and then running out the door.

She didn't exactly know where she was going, she could go to the Rec Hall and practice a bit but she had already taken off all of her workout clothes so that was out of the question. Perhaps she would just go for a walk...Anything to get him out of her head...him...

Ugh, what was it about him anyway? Why on earth was he always on her mind? Over the last few weeks since she had run into him last she had been thinking about him on and off and it was beginning to drive her insane. She hadn't told Raine, she always told Raine everything but she didn't know what telling Raine about what happened that night.

It wouldn't be good for her, Raine would squeal for a little while about it then she would glomp her insist on all the details and do her darnedest to get them together and Seph did not want that. No she didn't...

She shook her head as she thought about him in the water that night, how he simply seemed to glisten and glow and how the more she looked at him the more she just wanted to be near him, to press her lips against his...to feel the heat of his body...

Seph groaned again and stomped off into a different direction for no reason other than just needing to do something that would it make it feel like she was going against her thought processes. What the hell was she going to do...She couldn't sit here and think about him like this, it was going to drive her insane and the more insane he drove her the more her head hurt.

She sighed and put her head in her hands running her fingers through her hair looking down on at the ground and listening to her boots crunch the grass, that was of course when she heard voices.

One was female, the annoying type that is. The one that giggled and flirted and acted like a ditz to get a boy. Thought most of the little bitches were not acting they were dumb as shit, and just wanted a man to make them feel better about themselves. Dumb Twits.

The other voice, was male of course, it wasn't the fact that it was male that made her stomach start to growl as if the Snow leopard inside of her was waking up already, no no. It was the fact that she knew the voice.

Seth.

She looked up just in time to see him leaning towards this girl and brushing her hair behind her ear. Seth had done that to her on the beach. Before he had first kissed her. He had done that and Seph felt so many things at once. She wanted to kick him in the balls, she wanted to claw the little bitches eyes out and she almost wanted to cry.

Son of a fucking bitch! Who the fuck did he think he was? What made him think that he could go and flirt with her and then go around pull th exact same fucking move on some dumb bitch a few weeks later who wasn't even close to her caliber? Who the fuck did he think he was?!

This was Seph's mistake. This was the mistake she had made that she never wanted to make, Smart he was, Attractive in ways that she did not want admit that too, but he wasn't different like she had started to think that he was. He wasn't different he was just the same as every other douche bag she had ever met in her life. He was the same piece of shit that she had always seen just in a different body and it made her fucking sick to her stomach.

Sure, they hadn't even been dating or anything like that but Seph did not care at all. It made no difference to her because even though they had not been dating she could still feel the betrayal in her belly. She could still feel it threaten to make her bowl over and go fully kitty even as she tried to get a hold on it.

She took a deep breath hearing what he said to her and Seph rolled her eyes. What was she doing here? Sitting her being pissed at him? That wasn't what Sephora Tayrn did. No Sephora did nothing like that, when she was pissed she did something about it and the person who pissed her off had to pay.

Blondie and Seth had just woke up the bitch. Good for them.

Seph walked over to them silently, a big smirk on her face even though the anger was glowing inside of her eyes. She knew it was but blondie was too dumb to actually notice this fact and Seth at this moment she didn't give a fuck about what he thought.

She came up behind him looking at blondie with the smirk on her face when she said in clipped tones.

"Like Oh My God!! He's right, your eyes are the color of the sky, Doesn't that make you feel all warm and tingly on the inside? Oh and doesn't it also make you all warm and tingly to think about who else he has used that line on this week?"Seph said in mock valley girl ditz voice before staring the girl down and pushing Seth right into her and kicking him in the shin.

"Yeah I'm done now, You go back to being a jackass and you blondie can go back to falling for it"she said with a nod and a glare at Seth before she started walking off.

She didn't care about the fact that maybe some of that was uncalled for. Seph didn't have tact like that, she did what she wanted and she didn't let any guy get in her way. It was about time she remembered that.

He didn’t want to get sucked into loving someone. He didn’t want to get sucked into love period. It was the type of emotion that could chew you up and spit you out. And Seth had been there before, he didn’t want to be there again. Which was why he was easily falling back into his jack ass ways, there was a reason he had fallen into them in the first place wasn’t there? Of course there was. This being one of them. Seth had been hurt once before and he would rather die again than go through that again. In his opinion that may hurt less and he stood by that opinion. Though, he knew if his current challenge had her way, one of these days he may just die again, she was that violent.

Now why the fuck did that bring a slight smile to his face? He wasn’t sure. It was like he liked her physical abuse or some such shit, but seriously? With the life he had been through, he honestly barely felt her abuse, that or it felt like love taps compared to the shit Marc used to do just because he could, there was no other reason for the abuse. He just wanted Seth to know his place and fuck did Seth know it. His eyes got faraway for a moment, getting lost in the memory of that abuse that was honestly so fresh in his mind. Fuck.

He pushed it down and returned his thoughts to the lovely blonde twit he was with. He honestly got so bored by girls like this. They were all giggles and no challenge, but he just needed a quick fix, a quick reminder of who he used to be, fuck. Who he was. Not some wimp that was falling for some chick harder than he knew what to do about. So fuck that, he was not going to sit around thinking about her, even though it kept seeming to happen. And thinking about likeing her made memories of…her…come back. And memories of her dragged back memories of his old life. It was a vicious cycle and it needed to stop. Now, before he lost his mind or rather what was left of it. His solution was right in front of him, as idiotic and stupid as that must have looked, he happily did it. Why? Because he was an ass. And he knew it.

Poor chick was just his way of feeling like he wasn’t falling for Sephora. Dammit he couldn’t even think her name without wanting her to be there, even for the sheer physical lust she created in him, being pressed up against him…Oh dammit. He needed to focus. Somehow. It was so hard right now, and he had thought he was doing a good job at throwing complements and flirts her way if the way she leaned into him said anything. Or maybe she was just an idiot despite the books in her hands. Most possibly this was the answer, ugh. He had chosen an idiot on purpose though.

Which was when he touched her face, breaking his own personal rule lately of not touching anyone he flirted with unless it was Seph. Yeah, he was a saint. But he did it, brushing her hair out of the way of a delicate and classically pretty. She twittered and blushed like they always did when you complemented their eyes, it was easy. And then another prescence in the courtyard caught his attention and even before she spoke he knew who it was and he shut his eyes. Oh fuck. That was wonderful, just what he needed. For her to see. She would be livid, and he heard it in her voice through the fake valley girl accent. He sighed. This would be wonderful to try and explain to her. IF he could. Chances were, being that this was Seph they were talking about and not one of his usual challenges, he was doomed. So doomed, unless he twisted it his way.

Her voice was clipped and he tried to think of excuses, ways to calm her, anything. He turned his attention to her, trying to think of something besides complementing her which he knew would not help his situation. Actually, it may hurt him in the long run, she disliked being complemented usually, thought he was being full of shit. It depended on when whether or not she was wrong. He would have said something too, anything, but then she kicked him in the shin and he swore. Fuck! Ow that actually fucking hurt!

He swore again, turning towards her but she had a damn good kick, specially with those shoes of hers. He reached up to hold his shin, ignoring the other chick. Would she be insulted? [Probably. Did he care? Not really, she had served her purpose and it had gotten him in trouble, she was so done to him right now. She was walking away and he so disapproved of this, no, she had to get that pretty grabable ass of hers back here, or he would chase her. Which he did. Sort of. He kinda hopped, holding his shin. Fucking shit hurt.

He debated something for a moment, pausing his hopping after her. He could either attempt to save his dignity and ignore the fucking pain to chase after her. Or he could bank on something he was beginning to notice about her. She liked the show of pain from him, of knowing she had hurt him, or she was superior. It could put her in a better mood if he just fucking hopped. And he didn’t care that much about his dignity, Seth was an odd character that way. In some ways he had lost his dignity some time ago in that damn gang when, to show he knew his place, he had to crawl. Until he had risen to second in command for a while. That had been an interesting time of his life. Most of what had happened then had turned him into a monster and made being a feral red not that horrible.

Which was why he also didn’t mind being an ass and using what he knew of people now.

So hopping it was.

He hopped after her, holding his shin. ”Fuck….darling wait” he called after her, using a hopping run that didn’t put too much pressure on the shin she had kicked, which honestly didn’t hurt thaaat much anymore but now he was having fun playing the injured martyr that she had hurt with no real just cause. It wasn’t like they were dating, technically he was allowed to flirt. It was only his fucked up sense of morals that usually kept him from flirting with other girls while he focused on one specific challenge.

He got in front of her and planted his hands on her shoulders, just to stop her. But that didn’t stop him from feeling the warmth of her under the palms of his hands or the shock of attraction that always hit him like a physical spark every time he touched her. IT was an odd sensation, but it wasn’t unpleasant. It just made him wonder…he had never gotten that with Faith, did that mean that he had something…He shook his head. No. He wouldn’t think about that bullshit. No.

”I am sorry, Sephora. That was uncalled for. Let me make it up to you?’ he asked with a humble little smirk though there was that spark of something else, always something else, in his eyes as he began to plan beyond this move, plan a way to use what had happened to his benefit. But how to trick her into a date? He would figure it out. Didn’t he always? He had managed to get her to kiss him after all. He considered himself very skilled indeed.

Seph was a smart girl, at least she had always fancied herself a smart girl. Even when she was little and she had little knowledge, she still always knew that she was in no way stupid.

Which is why it bemused the fuck out of her that she ended up in these type of situations. She didn't ask for this, when she went and secretly prayed to Nyx she didn't ask for her to help get a guy to make her go crazy no no that was not what Seph prayed for and yet...that was what she got because she was for damn sure going fucking coo coo.

She hadn't intended to get involved with this type of shit today either. She had left her room to get away from it for crying out loud! She wanted a walk, she wanted a way to clear her head. Something to get him out of her mind because whether or not she wanted to admit it he was constantly on her mind and it was driving her positively insane.

She even was replacing characters in books with him...this had to end. So she had left and she was out for her walk trying so desperately for him to leave her mind, for her to think of anything else except him...and the way he touched her and the way that he kissed her...the way his body felt. Even now as she was sitting here cursing at herself she was thinking about it no matter how hard she had tried to get away.

Oh and she had tried. Trying only got her in further trouble though, because wouldn't ya know it. There he had been in line of site. Flirting with Manila whore Barbie. It had drove her fucking insane to see it.

Actually that was part of what bothered her, not just that he had the gall to use the same move that he used on that girl with her weeks before, but that she actually cared. That it pissed her off so much that she was actually standing there ready to rip the fucking girls eyes out and eat them for breakfast. Which was not a good sign, no no. That meant that the kitty was waking up and when the kitty woke up that was a bad sign for everyone who pissed her off. Not that she actually remembered this, Cris had told her about how she was.

Back to the point. She was pretty pissed at him, more so than she was at herself so she had went over there and made some comments and she could see the expression on his face even without him turning around. She knew that he knew that he was in deep fucking shit, so when he had turned towards her she kicked him in the shin.

Seph loved kicking people in the shin, it was one of her classic moves. When you kicked a person in the shin you cause minimal damage to them but you definitely cause a lot of pain. Which was the point. She wanted him to feel pain, she wanted him to understand that him flirting with this girl had hurt her...

Did She just fucking think that? She blinked almost stopping as she walked away. Hurt her? Hurt her? No no he could not hurt her, you know why he couldn't? Because if he hurt her that meant that he had some sort of power over her and he most certainly did not have any power over her. She did not feel anything for him. Nothing, nothing but hate that pooling inside her belly, at least that was what she hoped was pooling in her belly.

She heard him call after her, call her darling and Seph rolled her eyes. Did he really think that it would be that easy? That he would use some stupid term of endearment and she would just up and forgive him for being a giant douche bag? How easy did he think she was? She heard him hobbling as he came after her and Seph turned her head a bit before she saw him coming to go in front of her and stop her.

She busted out laughing, She had no idea why but watching him hobble after her after she had kicked him in the shin was oh so comical to her. Why should it not be? Then she felt herself relax a bit as she laughed some more at the fact that he was hobbling after her. What a dork. He was such a big fat dork.

"Dude...That is entirely pathetic"she said with another laugh, she was saying it quietly though as if she didn't want him to hear her and she wasn't sure that she did. If he heard that, then it means that he knew that she was relaxing a bit, she didn't need him having any sort of upper hand over her. She needed to be on top of things, if she wasn't on top of things then she was not happy at all.

He got in front of her and placed his hands on her shoulders and that was when she felt it. The shiver, the one that went down her spin every single time he laid a finger on her. She almost closed her eyes just feeling it and in the spots where his hands were, she felt so much warmth and it was flowing through her entire body. It made her want to melt into him and kiss him like she had when they were on the beach. She mentally shook off the thought blinking it away and looked at him trying to bring some of the anger back in her eyes.

He spoke saying he wanted to make it up to her and that he was sorry and Seph rolled her eyes a bit. He was sorry? She didn't give a fuck that he was sorry. Why should she? He was a fucking ass. Not that he technically had to justify himself to her anyway. He wanted to be a douche bag and flirt with every fucking whore that came his way he could go ahead. It wasn't any of Seph's business.

She went to take his hands off her shoulders and as soon as she touched his she felt the jolt again. Skin to skin. She had been secretly wondering if he would just as warm as he had been on the beach that night. It could have been the warm weather, but this was a cold fucking day. His hands were warm and she knew hers were as well...She wondered what else would be warm, she was looking in his eyes, she didn't realize it but she was, like she was searching them but the moment passed quickly and she snapped out of it shoving his hands off her shoulders finally.

She had to ignore what just happened and how it made her feel because if she didn't she was surely going to go insane dwelling on it. She gulped a bit, but in point five seconds the bitch was back. She folded her arms across her chest, taking a step back from him for safety reasons and then spoke in a hard voice, or at least what she hoped was a hard voice

"And How exactly are you going to do that? Cut your dick off and feed it to wild tigers? Cus' if you are. I am so there"she said with a big grin at him. Yeah that was it, she needed to remember that he had pissed her off with his ass holeness and that he had to pay. She couldn't sit there gazing into his eyes longing for him. Ew. Not longing, she never thought that. No she wasn't going to stand there looking at him. No she was going to kick ass and take names like she always did. That was who Sephora Tayrn was.

Still, she wanted to show him that she didn't care. He needed to know, that even though she was pissed. It wasn't because she liked him. Nope. Of course not. She didn't...She so did but he really did not need to know that.

"Besides. Doesn't matter, you have nothing to prove to me anyway. "she rolled her eyes at him and kept her arms folded, that had come out more huffy than she would have hoped but there was nothing she could do about it now. For such a smart girl like she had always thought herself to be, she sure as hell got herself into a lot stupid situations.

Obviously Seth didn’t care enough about his dignity. But also obviously his dignity wasn’t the important thing to him here. He was an ass in so many ways, and one of which was that he would put his challenge before a lot of things. Even before acting like himself or caring about what people thought about him. Not that he gave a shit about what people thought of him normally, but that was besides the point wasn’t it? It was to him and that was all that really mattered in his opinion and that was the one that did matter to him after all. So if losing a little dignity got him farther with a challenge, than so be it.

And like he had thought so many other times before, Sephora Taryn was the ultimate challenge.

Besides, it had actually fucking hurt when she had kicked him in the shin! Fuck he had forgot how much that hurt. It was a good move, he just hadn’t expected it from her and that was where he had to be careful. Sephora would always be violent first and usually her shoved and her hits and her kicks didn’t make him blink, even when he’d act like they did for her own satisfaction. But getting kicked in the shin actually really hurt in a way, too much pain for such a short swift kick.

Which was how Seth had managed to hobble and hop after her holding his hurting shin. It was worth it when she laughed, always worth it to get a laugh out of that woman. He had to fight so hard not to grin as he hopped after her, but at least she had stopped a bit at the sight of him doing that. And he had to fight even harder not to grin after the words she spoke, he knew she probably didn’t want them to be heard with how softly she said them but he was a red after all, he could pick up on these things pretty easily. Though, for her benefit he kept it to himself as always, ducking his head to hide his grin. He wouldn’t let hre know that her laughing but him further at ease, it meant she was relaxing a bit, enough for him to actually do some repair on the damage that he had done on his progress with her. Nice.

He actually got to her and put his hands on her shoulders and from her face he knew she felt it too. Usually that would make him feel a spark of triumph, but honestly the fact that he wasn’t the only person to feel this little spark scared the shit out of him. It meant that there was something more here and that wasn’t allowed. That wasn’t allowed to happen because he would never fall for another girl again. Not even one as different as the beauty in front of him. He wasn’t going to fall in love, never again. Never again.

He shook his head to clear his thoughts and actually spoke to her. She reached up to take his hands off her he supposed but he felt the spark again and fuck it made him want to pull her closer and feel those soft lips against his own once more, but he was going to attempt to behave himself right now and not press a kiss to those lovely lips in the courtyard, he doubted she’d appreciate the display that would cause. See? He thought about these things. Sometimes. Rarely. But it happened. She stepped back and he really did not approve of that move. He wanted to haul her right back over to him. She spoke, trying to regain her tough girl status, and Seth knew that. So he gulped as if he thought she’d really cut of his dick and then grinned a bit. ”Sorry love, I’m a bit too fond of that to let you pull that one off” Many things he would let her have to win this challenge. That was not one of them, too valuable to him thank you very much. Not that he thought she’d actually do it. Or, rather, he hoped she wouldn’t actually do it.

She crossed her arms, getting defensive now was she? Usually that was a bad thing, but he knew that usually with her that meant he could push a little here or there and weasel his way out of being in trouble. Because she seemed determined to always have him being in trouble because it was easier for her that way. But he could usually nudge a bit when she got like this and manage to make her smile or better yet give him a chance to make her forget he had done anything as stupid as flirting with the little blonde child who was a pale comparison to her stubborn, strong willed self. He liked her challenging self so much better than any cutesy little blond and he knew he had to show her that, because he had offended her in doing it. He knew that, he wasn’t an idiot. He was just an ass, there was a difference. But she didn’t need some saintly boy who would never touch her, even if she didn’t know that much yet he could see it in her eyes. He liked to think he was getting to know her.

Not in that sappy, I’m dating you, way. No, in a purely challenge related way.

He reached forward to gently take her hands from the prison of her arms and tug them from the way they were crossed, dropping one and only keeping the right hand. Which is to say, the one she could slay him with with her sword. See, he thought about these things. He kissed the back of her hand lightly, bowing over it to do so. He ignored the spark again, the warmth pooling inside him that said he wanted to touch so much more than he was right now. He’d deal with that later if he could manage to pull this off. He was, obviously, confident that he could but he would try to keep that confidence hidden because he doubted she’d approve.

No, she’d probably kick his other shin if she noticed.

He shook his head. ”But obviously it does matter” he said softly, close enough to her once more that he knew that she could hear, that soft little voice that was meant for her alone. He’d love to say it was another of his tricks but he wasn’t sure where that tone of voice had come from honestly. He shook his head once more, this time more trying to clear thoughts from his brain that anything else because sappy like thoughts did not belong in the head of Seth Horus, no they had no place there anymore and he would make sure that they never thought they did long enough to return to his mind. Fuckers.

Back to what he was up to though. He had to get back to this challenge and keep it that way, as a challenge, before he entirely lost his mind. His dignity was already far gone. ”Come on, let me make it up to you. We can go to the ice rink, you can watch me fall on my ass as much as you like and, because its me trying to make it up to you, you won’t have to pay for a damn thing. Deal? Come on, free entertainment, free food, the works. How can you pass that up?” he asked her with a smirk. Yes, he was keeping it to himself that he just described a date but twisted it to make it sound like he was just trying to make something up to her. If it amused him he’d let her know later that it was a date and then run before she could kill him. Because he knew she’d kill him, it was just the way that she was and he liked that about her. Not loved. Never loved. But he liked that about her very much so.

He hadn’t realized that he had gotten so close to her, but as he looked down at her with his green-gold eyes, down into her gorgeous sapphire ones, he realized that he was only a breath away from her if that. So close he could almost feel the sparks jumping in between them in this short distance. He was going to have to keep an eye on that. If he wasn’t careful, it would lead to so much more…

Seph always ended up at a cross roads. Where she had to choose between the girl she knew herself to be and the girl that she was when she was around this duface over here. Not that she wasn't herself. It was certain aspects of herself that started to change really and it bugged her the fuck out.

Seph was always on her guard, with him she relaxed . Which was unnerving. Seph had no time to be relaxed, she needed to be on her guard especially when she was around a guy. Particularly guys that threw her off her game. Well guy because he was the only guy to ever do it. Not that she was telling him that or anything.

When Seph had actually liked a guy, that guy that made part of the reason that she hated men on normal circumstances, she hadn't been the way she was now. There was nothing to change, sure she was still sarcastic and mean...but she had had hope for the male population. Hope that she had instilled in the douche bag and what had he done, he fucked it up. Where did that leave her? Even more jaded then before.

So letting her guard down, for some guy she had barely knew anything about was trying her positively insane. Especially since she seemed to have absolutely no control over it.

Besides, look where it had gotten her! Pissed the fuck off because this one over here had decided to take it upon himself to go on ahead and flirt some blonde fucking bimbo. The normal man hating Sephora would not have given a rats ass about who the fuck he was flirting with. The Sephora that was captivated by him, she cared. oh she cared a lot.

She didn't want to care, but that was a whole separate issues. There was nothing that she could do about the fact that the though of him flirting with that stupid little bitch made her cringe and want to kill things. She was pretty sure that this fact was obvious, but she didn't care. She wasn't going to tell him, she wasn't going to let him know that he was having such an effect on her, what was she crazy? She didn't think so. At least not crazy enough to do something as crazy as that.

She had gotten her revenge of course, or at least her opinion of revenge, which was kicking him in the shin. She had walked away and tried hard not think about him thinking that it was done after that when he had hobbled after her, it amused her even in after thought. It was such a strange thing to see him just limping because of what she did. She laughed and spoke, not that he noticed because if he had that would have surely upset her.

He had come in front of her and placed his hands on her shoulders and that had sent Seph into a world of confusion. The spark, the instant warmth she felt the moment he touched her, the moment his eyes seem to just look deep inside of her. It was invasive...it was...exhilarating and she hated it. She hated that he could make her feel so many damn things at once. How dare he? Who did he think he was anyway? Going around and making people feel ways they would normally never feel. There was a better chance of their being a snow ball in hell, than Seph feeling something like this. Normally.


She had of course, reached to take his hands off and it only made it worse of course, but she had to disregard that and she had made her comeback, talking about chopping off his dick and feeding it to tigers. The thought kind of made her grin, but it was only because of the fact that she very much wanted to prove that she still had it. That this one over here had not taken it away from her like he had taken ever other faculty from her. He was like...she didn't even know how to describe him exactly.

He responded to her basically saying that he wasn't going to let her do that and part of her wanted to challenge him but she just scoffed and rolled her eyes at him a bit. What ever. She just wanted him to be punished for being a fucking pig, was that so wrong? Didn't she deserve this? Technically, if you went by normal people's standards. No she didn't deserve to make him suffer because it wasn't like they were dating and he was flirting. Seph's little code though, didn't really give a shit.

"Awww...how sad"she said sarcastically and with a pout of her bottom lip "I was about to go sharpen my knives and call all of my little tiger friends too"she said with yet another roll of her eyes. She didn't have any tiger friends no, (not that she couldn't...she did turn into a snow leopard) but it didn't matter. He deserved the sarcasm and he deserved the bite that came across every single word that she spoke and she didn't give a damn if he thought otherwise. This wasn't about him! Well...It sorta was but that was entirely off the point!

That was when he did something, that Seph didn't know what to do about. She had her arms crossed while she had been speaking but he took them out by her hands and she felt the jolt. She felt the goosebumps start to raise on her skin and she didn't know what to do. He let one of her hands fall and took the other and kissed it and she closed her eyes for a split second before opening them again but not taking her hand away. What the hell was he doing to her? Was he trying to kill her or something?

She had said that it hadn't mattered anyway and he said that it obviously did, it wasn't what he said though. It was the way he said it. Like it was a secret, like only she could hear it and the tenderness in his voice both scared her and thrilled her. That was it, she was so fucking doomed that she didn't know what to do. He was getting closer and closer to her and she just could not seem to get her body to move away from him like she wanted it too at least, like she thought she wanted it too.

He was still on this whole make it up to her kick and Seph was listening to him but at the same time she wasn't and she wasn't because of how close he was too her. He did say something about going to the rink and watching him fall on his ass and she had to smirk at that. She had too, he said he would pay and all this other crap just because he wanted to make it up to her but...

Seph wasn't thinking about that. Seph was thinking about how close he was to her and how she could see so deep in his eyes and how from this distance she could feel the heat of his body right on her and she wanted more of her. She looked down at his face and then at his lips and she licked her own. What the hell was she doing? She had to snap out of it...some where in her mind she knew that but she couldn't no matter how hard she tried. She just couldn't shake it. She needed to kiss him just to get it out of her system. Yeah that was it. Just to get it out of her system and make her feel better. She would be able to concentrate.

Without another thought, she closed the distance, kissing him and pressing close like she had that day on the beach so that all the tension melted away bringing forth new tension that she was so not ready to recognize. She was kissing him deeply but it was over quickly, she knew that she didn't want it too, but she was better now...She didn't need to kiss him anymore...right?

Which brought her back to going to the rink, she licked her lips feeling the taste of him still there and then took her hand away and started walking in that direction the rink now a big grin on her face.

"Fine...I'll go, but don't blame me if all those times you fall on your ass is because I pushed you...oh and another thing...I don't eat light"she said with a grin as she walked backwards away from him waiting to see if he was going to follow. Yes she had kissed him, but as far as Seph was concerned it never happened. At least, not if the tingling in her lips or the happiness in her stomach was any indication, no that had to be something else entirely.

Yeah, flirting probably hadn’t been Seth’s best idea ever but how was he supposed to know that she would come out of no where and assault him!? It was like she had been watching and waiting for the exact moment he would screw up to kick him. He honestly wouldn’t put that past her in the slightest, it seemed like something she’d do just to prove it to herself that he wasn’t charming her off his feet. And yes, he was ass enough to just know he was sweeping her off her feet, even if he’d never say it out loud. He didn’t feel like risking the wrath of the lovely Sephora Taryn anymore than he already had already done obviously today.

Yeah, he had screwed up, but he knew when she relaxed enough to laugh a bit at him. Mostly because he had been hopping and holding his shin. But he hated to think he was getting to know her so well on any level that had anything to do with anything beyond the fact that this was a challenge and nothing more. Nothing more at all. He always got to know the girls he took as a challenge because that was just smart. And he knew her just as well as he had gotten to know all his challenges. He shoved down that part of him that said he wanted to know more about her, so much more. Like what had made her so tough and jaded. Who had turned her into such a man hater? Where had she learned to be so violent. Could she use that sword as well as the rumors said? She had never pulled it on him so he didn’t know, thank the goddess above.

He wouldn’t admit that he had any of these questions though, no, that would be getting too serious, too close to that messy emotion called love that plagued him since he was fourteen. He had had enough of it, he wouldn’t let it eat at him again, never again. As alluring as she was, as hot as the sparks they created when they touched were, as much as he wanted to know so much more about her…he wouldn’t. He would not admit anything. Even the fact that she kept him so much more in line. That she had made him a little less of an ass, a little more likely to feed his blood lust before he went out which he never had bothered to do before. It was…nothing he wanted to deal with. And he wouldn’t deal with it, he would shove it back and pretend it didn’t exist.

And then, of course, there was the spark that jumped when he touched her shoulders, and kept building when she went to push his hands off, and kept building when he got closer. It felt almost like an inferno in his gut that wanted to burn him alive or swallow him whole or make him want to ride this wave of passion all the way to the end of the road. But no, he wouldn’t admit it was there anymore than she would. Even though he saw it sparking in her eyes, just as much as he knew it was reflected in his own. She had spoken about the tigers, but now, he wouldn’t let her do that. As much as he enjoyed being with her and making her happy…making her happy where had that come from?...Either way, as much as he enjoyed this, he would not let her make mince of that, he treasure it too much thank you.

She pouted, pushing that full bottom lip of hers out. It really just made him want to take it in his mouth, bite it and tug, kiss those lips until she melted against him again…but he would not do it. He wanted to, but he wouldn’t. He wouldn’t give in to that fire, no, he had a goal in mind. And plus he didn’t want her to run away again, and there was always a chance that she would. He found himself getting closer to her either way, feeling those sparks and that fire building. He rolled his eyes at her, mimicking the movement she had given him earlier. ”Sadly, I don’t really doubt that you have tiger friends to feed your suitors to” he teased her right back, a smirk tugging at his lips and he didn’t fight it, flashing his signature smirk at her happily.

And that was when, her crossing her arms, had made him act. He really, just wanted to touch her. To be able to press his lips to her skin even if it wasn’t at her lips where he so wanted to. He had never been consumed with such a thing. Well, he had, but that had been simple lust. This was so much more than that and it was slowly burning a hole in his gut, or at least, he knew it had to with the way it was so fiercely roaring inside of him.

She didn’t pull her hand away, so he kept it. Why would he drop her hand if she was letting him touch her so willingly? It wasn’t a fact that he was all together used to, usually she was too prickly to let him do something of the sort. So he took what he could get happily from her and kept her hand in his, returning his gaze to hers as he straigtened. He hadn’t realized his voice could get so soft and private as it had for her, but it had. Where had that come from? He had no idea but he wasn’t entirely sure that he liked it. When he continued, going on describing a date but making it sound like he was just paying her back so that she would actually do it, he made a point to make it sound like a normal voice. No private, intimate whispers. Just his voice. Just that.

He didn’t get his answer right away, instead, he got a shock. She pressed up close to him and without a second thought he wrapped his arms around her waist, loving the way she had felt against him, all soft even where she pretended to be prickly, and it was like they were on the beach all over again. When her lips met his, he kissed her right back, matching her passion. And the fire seemed appeased for a moment as it took over the pair of them, making him wonder how he had managed to feel this way in such a short time…and how he could stop it if it managed to lead to that dreaded feeling.

It was over far too soon and if she hadn’t pulled away, he would have tugged her right back to him for another round of burning kisses. But she had pulled away, finally answering. And her answer made him smirk out right. Well damn, he wondered if she knew she had just agreed to a date? Probably not. It was the same way she probably was going to pretend that the kiss they had just shared had never happened in the first place, he had begun to expect reactions like that from her. She would pretend there was nothing, even if he could see it in her eyes, and he would pretend right along with her because making her happy amused him. So, he would make a point never to mention this was a date.

Not until it was over at least.

”Only if you realize I’ll chase you if you push me” he said, grinning at her wickedly, and he meant it. He was a passingly good skater, and he would happily chase her around the rink just to see that spark in her eyes. He was happy he had guessed right with the rink, it would have been just his luck that she would have hated to skate or not know how. That would have sucked and he would have been at a loss at what to suggest next. A movie sounded way too much like a date. The Rink he could pass off as other things. Even if it would be just as much a date. He started walking after her, happy that she seemed less mad at him for flirting now and more playful. He knew he was happier for having being able to kiss her, even though he wouldn’t admit that one out loud for the life of him. ”I like a woman who isn’t afraid to eat” he teased, arching a brow at her as he passed her, taking her hand again playfully and tugging her another way. ”Come on, I know a less well known way out of this place” he said with a laugh, directing her towards a different part of the wall that most people didn’t know about. The red fledglings did, but that was because they had used it before, many times.

Besides, it was more exciting to sneak out.

What the hell was she doing? Sephora was running it over and over in her head and she had no idea what she was doing anymore. She used to know who she was. She used to know everything about herself. She was Sephora Tayrn, she was violent and angry. She loved to read (and sing and dance secretly ) She loved fencing more than she loved breathing and and she absolutely without a doubt hated men.

At least, she used too. She shook her head as she thought about all of this. She didn't mean for any of this to happen at all. She was so annoyed with herself! She kept running it over and over in her head and it just made her more and more nauseated with herself. How did this happen? Why was it happening? It was all the same all the time. She couldn't figure out why this was happening and it bugged the fuck out of her.

Seth Horus, she thought glancing at him. He was so complicating things in her brain. He just set her off in so many ways, at all times. Even when he wasn't around he crept into her mind. She couldn't shake him off at all and the part that bothered her was that some of her really didn't want to shake him off. She wanted to bring him closer...

She shook her head thinking about all that just happened and how later when she got back to her room she was going to be kicking herself about it. He had been flirting with the bimbette, she just had to happen upon them. She sighed, if she hadn't happened upon them then she would be able to say that she hadn't done anything stupid today.


She so did do something stupid today. She almost bonked herself on the head a billion times. He had spoke saying that he had no doubt that she had tiger friends to feed her suitors too and she just smiled at him slowly without responding to him. He really had no idea how true that statement actually was. Sure, she didn't really have any tiger friends but she was a snow leopard...which she had just found out recently. Not that he needed to know that. He didn't. She had no intention of telling him either.

That would lead to them getting close, she didn't need them getting close. She didn't need to be getting close to any guys. Guys were terrible. Even when they had beautiful eyes and their smirks made her hear skip a beat and had secret British accents.

Shit!! Seph you need to calm, she thought as she stood there with him.

Of course then she had only made matters worse by kissing him. She kissed him, she hadn't meant to kiss him really. Okay, well she did. But she didn't at the same time. She just needed him, she had been so close to him she could see in his beautiful eyes and feel his breath and she just...needed to appease the fire. That was what she had been doing. She was just appeasing the fire. That was all.

After the kiss was over she walked away,pulling away from the hand that was so tightly holding on to hers. Her skin tingled where his hand had been. Why did he make her feel like this? Every single time that he touched her it sent shivers up and down her spine. She had never experienced this in her entire life.

What did that mean? Nothing. She said looking down as she walked away. already having called things back to him, she took her hand and pushed her hair back behind her ears as she thought about it. The wind was blowing a bit and it seemed the more she moved her hair the more the wind blew it in her face. Stopping her from seeing clearly and thinking clearly, she thought as she walked and then heard him coming up behind her.

She was still thinking about how her lips and hand awere tingling when he spoke saying her didn't mind as long as she knew that he would chase her if she pushed him and she rolled her eyes a bit. Was he kidding? Did he think she was worried about it?

Actually...the more she thought about it, it did worry her a bit. What if she pushed him and he chased her and they fell down and their faces were so close that they couldn't help...

What the hell was she thinking? Was the book she had been reading a fucking romance novel? No no it wasn't she needed to get all these damn romantic notions out of her head because it was starting to fuck with her entirely. How was she going to last at the ice skating rink?

She still couldn't believe that she had actually agreed to going with him. He spoke again saying that he liked a woman who ate and Seph laughed at him actually speaking

"Really now? Well point me in the direction of the cheesy burgers and fries"she said with a grin. Not that she wanted him to like her or anything. She didn't. Why would she want him to like her or anything like that.

She almost sighed at herself. She denied it and denied it over and over but something was going on here and she needed to figure it out instead of denying it. This way she could get rid of it and just go back to life as usual. Hating men, all of them.

Just then he took her hand and said he knew a less well known way out of here and she raised an eyebrow at his own arched brow trying to ignore the tingling he sent up her spin when he took her hand. It was like them touching ignited the flame again, this flame that she was trying so hard to deny and get rid of.

"Less well known way huh? Why am I not surprised that you know some way to sneak out of here?"she said in a sardonic tone. She wasn't surprised or anything but whether or not she wanted to admit it she was sort of excited to see where they were going and what was going to happen.

She let him lead her towards the wall and kept looking down at their hands joined together and debated whether or not she was going to tug it away, she decided to leave it be for the moment but it was only because he was leading the way. "If your leading me to your cave where you take all your women I will not hesitate to stab you"she said in sing song voice.

She just needed to speak, because the less she spoke was the more that she thought and thinking was bad...wasn't it?

Seth knew he was falling in too deep. He was well aware of this. How was he so aware of this? Because everytime he stopped paying enough attention and monitoring it, his thoughts would go right to her. Right to this woman with her sapphire eyes and long dark hair and beautiful body that caught his attention every time she walked into a room. With her wit and her sarcasm that kept their conversations so amusing, back and forth with all their crazy banter. With all the rough edges that just made the smooth, soft parts that much more enticing-

What. The. Fuck. Was. He. Doing.

Those were not his thoughts. Those couldn’t be his thoughts. He didn’t sit there and make poetry in his head about some woman. He was not sitting here romanticizing everything about her. He wasn’t that type of guy. He didn’t fall in love, he didn’t send flowers, he didn’t do chocolates, he didn’t swoon and serenade. And even the thoughts of doing all those things made him gag. He was a man, dammit. A man that flirted and played and took challenges. He made women fall for him and then he moved on. So why did it feel like she was playing his game right back at him? He knew she wasn’t. It bothered her just as much as it did him, he could see it in her eyes.

So what was going on here?

He knew some of these feelings. These feelings that made him want to do anything just to make her smile, even if it meant making a fool of himself. He knew how it felt to lose yourself in thoughts of one person and think about them all day long. Making even their faults perfect. He knew how it felt to fall for someone. He had vowed never to do it again. Feelings like this weren’t real, they just tricked you and turned you around until you weren’t sure which way was up. Love was just a trick designed to make humans have children or something. He had seen that somewhere. He couldn’t remember where, but he knew he believed it. Love was a trick. A trick he wouldn’t fall for again.

He would win this challenge and move on. So why did the idea of just doing that make him feel so sick to his stomach? Fuck he was in trouble, wasn’t he? He knew he was at least.

He told her he was just taking her out to make up for flirting with another girl. Maybe he should tell himself that too. Or that it was just for the challenge. Of course it was just for the challenge. He needed this step, even if he needed to tread lightly with her. That was it. Yeah, that was it. He smirked easily. See, just part of the game.

And then she had kissed him, sending sparks flying all over the damn place. Not that he didn’t entirely enjoy it himself. Kissing her was like kissing a livewire, and he loved it. Not her. The kissing. He could love that. The feel of her body against his…and his mind wandered for a moment over to what it would feel like if there was so much less in the way. He had almost gotten that at the beach, when she had just been in that little bathing suit…Damn. Down boy. He needed to keep his mind in the game. Fuck why did she make that so hard? Woman. He shook his head, nearly laughing when she had walked away and pretended like she had done nothing at all. He should have expected it. This was her after all, she did things like that just as easily as he did. Just as easily as a person could breathe.

But back to their actually conversation. He needed to stop going into his head all the time. Yeah, once upon a time, he had left his family to become a scholar. That him was buried so deep he wasn’t sure that that him even existed anymore. He tried so hard not to think now. Thinking always lead back to her or to Seph, or to the gang. And none of those things were okay. So he liked to make it like he knew nothing, despite the fact that his earlier studying leaked out from time to time and shocked the hell out of her. That was okay. That was amusing. Ugh, back to the conversation Seth, PAY ATTENTION to something other than the way she looks right then.

He had said he would pay for it all. He wasn’t entirely sure he could but hey, he could steal from Darius if need be. That was what friends were for, wasn’t it? He had to fight the smirk at that thought. Darius would just go on about his balls in an Easy Bake Oven if he mentioned it to the other dude. His best friend had some serious issues he needed to work through if you asked Seth. Anyway, he commented on the fact that he loved a girl who actually ate and it was true. All those stick thin girls eating salad did not turn him on at all. He liked the fact that Seph ate, that she honed her body with fencing, that she wasn’t afraid to be herself. It made her that much more appealing. He appeased his monster by assuring it that meant she would just be that much better in bed. ”Only if you actually share” he said with a laugh.

He grabbed her hand, intending to take her a less well known way. It was just practical, if this way was less well known then there was less of a chance of them getting caught. All the same, there was the flame again, the one that surged through them each and every time that they touched and made him want to touch her all the more and really ignite that flame even farther. More. He grinned back at her when she spoke, smirking really, and nearly laughed. ”Because I’m a devious bastard?” he answered her, laughter in his voice as he did. He loved to tease her, loved that she thought that way all the time.

Fuck that word.

He rolled his eyes at her comment. Always thinking the worst of him, wasn’t she? But that was what made this challenge so much more fun. He looked back over his shoulder at her, and with the hand that didn’t have hers, he twirled an imaginary moustache, looking all devious and dastardly. ”How did you guess?” he asked, keeping his voice all dark and villain-y. But he couldn’t keep it up. He smirked at her and kept leading the way. He knew it was around here somewhere…yes!

He grinned, victorious. ”I figured you wouldn’t shy away from a little tree climbing” he said, pointing to the tree. There was another on the other side that would let them get over the wall and get down. It was perfect. He had discovered it when he had first come here and he was surprised that no one else had thought ot use it. That was just his genius at work he supposed. ”Though, if you are afraid, I don’t mind carrying you” he said again, playing hero now. He was a doof today and it made him laugh. He was telling himself it was just to make sure she didn’t remember his flirting. But it didn’t feel true.

Deep breaths Seph, Deep breaths. Not that that would help, no that wouldn't help at all. She was too busy freaking out for any sort of deep breaths to be any help at all. If she could have yelled out into the sky about how frustrated she was, she would have and why was she frustrated? Because she had no idea what she was fucking doing here. Not like what she was doing out here, no what she was doing with Seth. Seth. Evey time she even though his name it sent feelings in her stomach that she would never want to admit to for the rest of her life. She didn't know what it was but she didn't like it. At least, most of her didn't. There was a smaller part of her, that was growing bigger every single day, every moment, that actually liked what he was doing to her.

What was he doing to her? For the life of her Seph couldn't figure it out. She never had this problem before. Yes there was the guy who was part of the reason that she hated all men, but he was just a little small crush, something that had hurt when it blew up in her face but went away shortly after. This...This was something else entirely...this was something more.

She wanted to bang her head against a brick wall. Something more? Something more? Where the fuck had that come from? There was not anything more here, no not at all. There was no such thing as something more when it came to Seph, there was nothing at all and you were lucky if you got that. But...if that is so why did she feel like the words she was thinking were a lie? Why did she feel like he was staring inside of her every single time that he looked at her. Like his eyes could just see into her soul, and fill it up. She blinked away that thought completely. What the fuck had that been? What was he doing to her?

Those weeks ago, on the beach. When they had been alone at night and everything seemed so mystical and like magic. Crap that Seph didn't even believe in, she had chalked it up to it being the beach and that they had been in the Bahamas and that was what it was...but if that had been what it was, why was she still feeling like this then? Why were the feelings still here?

While she had been sitting there thinking about all this crap, he had been just as quiet and she looked at him and couldn't help wondering what he was thinking and if he was thinking about her...or that girl she had just torn him away from.

It made her want to growl just thinking about it, that was what she needed to think about though, the more she thought about how he had just been flirting with some chick and being the asshole that she knew all men to be, the easier it would be for her to keep her distance emotionally, she needed to otherwise she was going to be in so much trouble.

She took a deep breath and listened to him speak, she ran a a hand through her hair feeling a little chilly so she crossed her arms as she listened to him say only if you share in regards to him paying. She smirked a bit as she listened to that. She didn't need him to pay for it, she could pay for her own stuff. If he expected to get food for paying than he was sadly mistaken, she would pay for her own food.

"Ha! If you think I'm sharing than you are so sadly mistaken dear boy, I'll buy my own food before I share"she said with a grin, it faltered slightly though as she thought of how she said that...it was almost flirtatious. She looked down at the ground, looking at the leaves that were about to be crunched under her heeled boots. She needed to not flirt with him, she needed to just relax. She needed to just take a breath and remember that he was just another guy. Just another guy with dreamy eyes with flecks of gold and a smirk that made her heart skip a beat...

She was going to fucking kill herself if she kept having thoughts like this. She just couldn't keep having these thoughts if she was going to stay sane. Because as of right now, she was so fucking insane it was not even funny.

He had her hand and she was trying so so hard to not focus on that fact. She didn't want to focus on the tingling she felt. She didn't wanna focus on how it made heat flow to her entire body and how it made her want to just pull him closer and kiss him forever...That was it. She was done. She was going to kill herself in the next fifty seconds because she just couldn't take these thoughts anymore.


She had said sarcastically why wasn't she surprised that he knew some secret way out of there and he said because he was a devious bastard which was enough to make her laugh and stop thinking about their burning hands and how she wanted to make out with him. 'Well that is for damn certain and I couldn't agree more"she said with a grin sent his way. She couldn't help it looking at him made her grin. She sighed mentally. She was in deep deep shit.


She had made a joke, mostly because she hadn't wanted to think and it had made him laugh and she grinned. She loved the way he laughed, she could feel each vibration of his voice. It hit her right in the hear each time making it lighter. She sighed again mentally. She really needed to get out of this thinking things like this.

'I don't know you just seem like that type"she said sarcastically. She needed to keep things sarcastic, keeping things sarcastic made things a lot easier for her. At least it made things a lot easier for her sanity. He made a motion as if he was twirling a fake moustache and she started laughing then even though she didn't even want to laugh at something she did, she couldn't even help it. It just happened.


They stopped by a tree that was outside a wall and there was another tree on the other side. He said that he didn't think she would mind a little tree climbing and Seph grinned a little bit at that. Seph climbed trees all the time for sport, it was something that thrilled her. Then he said that if she was afraid he would gladly carry her and she glared at him. Who the hell did he think she was? Some damsel in distress? Fuck that. She was Sephora Tayrn, she ate Trees for breakfast.

Wordlessly, she let go of his hand ignoring the cold feeling she had when she was no longer holding his hand and she started climbing the tree effortlessly, she wrapped her legs around a branch and then pulling herself up balancing on a branch then, she simply jumped to the other tree grabbing onto the branch and laughing a bit, then grabbing onto the trunk and sliding down the tree landing effortlessly on the other side of the wall, yeah her white shirt was dirty but she didn't really give a shit. She didn't like white anyway, that showed him how much she was afraid of climbing the tree.

She folded her arms across her chest yelling over the wall at him "Oh Seth, Please save me! The scary tree almost hurt me!"she said in a little fake baby voice. She laughed a little, Did he really think that she needed him like that? Plagued by how attracted she was to him maybe, but she so was not some damsel he needed to save, she thought with a smirk, not even thinking about all the fun she was actually having with him.

Seth was convinced he was losing his mind. Oh wait, no, he had already lost it. What had started out as a challenge, hell the ultimate challenge, was slowly taking his ability to be him from him and part of him, a very tiny part, didn’t mind. Which just made it worse. She was supposed to be Sephora Taryn, the unstoppable. The one who proclaimed to everyone that would listen that she hated men. The one that threatened to chop off or slice up any boy that tried and had almost done it too if rumors were true. The one who was beautiful, but untouchable. The one who had scared off every single other male in this house.

And here he was, smiling thinking about all that. Because he liked that about her, that she was so strong and capable. That she was sarcastic and often would roll her eyes even if she was smiling, rather than admit she was amused. He liked that she was so headstrong, it was keeping him interested. And then he groaned, inwardly not where she could hear and know she was making him spaz out just as much as he spazed her out, because she was doing this to him.

She was supposed to be the ultimate challenge. Instead, he found his greatest challenge to be not falling for her, rather than the other way around. It wasn’t like she was trying either. In fact, half the time he was convinced she really did hate him. Sometimes. And then she’d smile and he knew he was not entirely on her bad side, as much as she wished he was. He was being suckered in a way by his own challenge. And she wasn’t allowed to win, oh no. He had to remind himself all the damn time that this was a challenge. He got in, wooed her to love him and got out.

Mostly because he was an ass.

Partly because he had once been in love and she had scorned him.

Slightly because he found it amusing.

And more because he got so easily bored and needed to do this to keep himself entertained. He lked challenges, liked making them see that they weren’t as tough as they thought and they didn’t hate men. Did them a service in the end, didn’t it? He thought so. By showing them they didn’t hate men, they could go off and find a man knowing that they weren’t the most horrible things, and they could direct their anger at him for leaving. Not that most did. Oh no, he had a fine little gathering of lovers for when he wasn’t on a challenge, gained from his challenges. Never let it be said that he didn’t have one hell of an ego. Hard not to when you got fawned over from time to time.

But seriously? She was getting to him. And it was so strange to him, to actually be falling for someone. Not that that was allowed. The last time that had happened he had practically died and that was not allowed to have a repeat performance. Not any time soon. Love wasn’t something that did anyone any good, so all these little stirrings of feelings, and stirrings of being mad at himself for flirting, and anything else? They needed to be squashed as soon as was possible so he wouldn’t get hurt and so he could get back to his usually ways of being an asshole. A happy asshole, but one all the same. It worked out well for him. In the end anyway.

And then he noted the hint of flirtation in her voice when she spoke. Oh, well what have we here then? The ass was back out to play, the one that knew if he kept playing, and kept challenging, he would win this little challenge that no one had been able to put a dent in before. The part of him that was an ass and merely played the game, rather than actually cared, that was the part that needed fueling, not this sappy part that was actually starting to feel. He needed to stomp out that part of himself before it was too late and he found himself consumed by it and the next thing he knew he’d be saying those three little words and she would stomp all over his heart just like she had so long ago and he would be left broken again. No, no. That wouldn’t happen, not again. He needed to be the ass, the flirt, the player boy. And wory about all that other shit never again. Life was easier without a conscience after all. And he intended to get rid of the bit of one that was resurfacing in him. As soon as possible.

”Well than I don’t know if its such a good idea for me to buy you anything if you’re just going to hoard it to yourself” he said, a tease and a flirt in his own voice as he smirked down at her. She was looking down at the ground, not at him, but he figured it was worth the smirk and the look anyway, on the chance she’d look up. Or maybe he just liked looking at her. Oh fuck that thought had to die a slow and painful death right now. Fuck. He was losing himself here.

But then he was off running and he had her hand. He hated the main place to sneak out, it was so fucking boring and everyone used it. He had no idea how they hadn’t all gotten caught yet. His place was so much better, quieter too. Less chance of anyone catching them. Less chance of them finding any girls who knew him too well, he knew he was already on thin ice, he wasn’t going to push it. Besides. Ice was where he wanted to be. He was taking her to the rink after all, he didn’t want to be under it. It was hard to skate that way.

While they were running, they were teasing each other and he had twirled a fake mustache, being all devious and insane because he was good like that. And he never denied that he was devious, it would have been a waste of time to have even bothered, instead he pushed that image because…he didn’t lie about that part of himself, she had to know that much by now though, it wasn’t like it was hard to miss really. Anyway, she laughed. And he grinned. He liked making her laugh. Mostly because he was pretty damn sure no other boy who had been trying to woo her and such had ever made her laugh. It put scores entirely in his favor. The fact that he genuinely liked her laugh was not a point he was willing to let go on. No, that was a moot point and he would not admit that out loud. Fuck he had just admitted it in his head. What was wrong with him?

That was when, triumphant, he had brought her to the two trees. That distracted him at least from his own damn mind and the stupid thoughts that didn’t really exist and weren’t needed for life or anything. Weren’t needed at all for anything. Fucking stupid sappy thoughts. Anyway, as predicted, Seph was a tree climber. He hadn’t put it past her in the slightest. Most of his other challenges couldn’t be brought here because they would be too girly and disapprove. Seph, he knew, would climb right on over it just to prove she could and then be entirely triumphant if she did it faster than him. They may have only met about three or four times, but he paid attention. He always paid attention to his challenges.

Especially this one.

Ugh.

She let go of his hand and jumped from one tree to the other, showing just how much of a girly-girl she was not. And he knew she would be able to easily get over it. In a weird sort of way, it made him proud. He laughed when he heard her, from the other side, tell him the tree hurt her. He knew she was making fun of him. He also didn’t care all that much. Instead he replied. ”Wait right there, I’m coming to save you!” he called with a laugh. She wanted to play, honestly he could play right back. He climbed the tree and jumped to the wall itself, and then he jumped down, even though it was high. He was red, it wasn’t a problem. SO he may have been showing off a little bit, but so what? He was just having his fun. And so what if it made him look all strong and shit.

What was wrong with that? ”Aww, you look fine to me. Guess the tree will live another day” he said with a smirk, teasing her a little still. And then he offered her his hand, leaving it open if she wanted to take it or not. He wanted to see how far he had to go with this lovely challenge of his. ”Ready?” he asked, tilting his head a little and giving her a full blown smirk of his.

Seph didn't know how she had ended up here. She wasn't sure what she meant by here either, whether she meant here like standing outside the ice rink with Seth or here as in this situation. Probably a little bit of both, because she had no idea how she ended up right here in front of the Ice rink and here in this situation. The situation of freaking out about every little thing that was going on.

She had spent the entire walk over here covertly shoving him and trying very hard not to look at him out of the corner of her eye but she just couldn't seem to help it. It was driving her completely insane. She didn't even want to look at him at least she was trying really hard to make sure that she didn't want to look at him. She didn't even know how this ended up happening, when she had woken up this evening she didn't even think that she was going to run into him today and now here she was going to the Ice rink with him, what the hell was that about?

She had been mad at him anyway! Catching him flirting with Barbie over there had pissed her off to absolutely no end, even though if you asked her she had messed up their flirting because she felt like it and not because it had made her insanely jealous because sadly it had. It made her crazy jealous to think of him wooing any girl but her. Not that she was going to say anything to him about it. He didn't need to know that she was jealous or anything especially since she was trying so hard to forget herself. Too bad it wasn't working.

Seph sighed as they moved up on the line, she ran her hand through her hair and glanced at him again as soon she did her heart did a little leap in her throat as she just watched him there. What was it about him? Sure his eyes were beautiful and his hair was all gold and he had a nice body...No he didn't. What was she thinking?There was absolutely nothing appealing about him. That was exactly why she was standing here in a line to go in an Ice rink with him. Of course that was completely the reason.

She was starting to freak out, She didn't know what to do, sure they would just go in and then put on ice skates and skate right? That would be all there was too it right? There was no need for anything else. Okay she was officially having a panic attack, she crossed her arms as they got to the head of the line and she waited looking down at her combat boots as he paid. She actually didn't want him to pay, it was a little insulting to her feminine sensibilities. Not that she was going to complain because she was way too busy freaking out to complain about the fact that he was paying. Now what?

They stepped inside and Seph looked around at all the people here, sadly there were a lot of couples here and it made Seph want to bore her eyes out. Wasn't Ice skating for everyone? Where were all of the families and children? When did ice skating become such a coupleorama? And how the hell could she get out of it? She sighed and crossed her arms a bit huffing at the fact that love was being thrown in her face every five seconds and how much she wanted to just punch it. Well, she was here, they might as well make the most of it right?

She turned him pushing a stray hair behind her ears, and then punched him in the shoulder to get his attention, this was the only way she knew to get his attention anyway, unless of course she kissed him. Ugh, she needed to get thoughts of kissing him out of her head because they driving her insane, all she was doing was thinking about how his lips felt and how she didn't think the memory was enough, how she had to do it again just so she could be sure that it was as amazing as she remembered.

There were two counters for shoes and Seph decided that she would go to one and he would go to the other this way she could give herslef a little time to think and breathe and do normal functions that humans did when they weren't spazzing, she had almost forgotten what not spazzing was like because every single time she was around him it was all that she did.

"I'm guna go over there and get some skates, Meet you here in five minutes, that is if i come back"she said with a grin and then shoved him a bit before walking away and letting out a big breath that she felt like she had been holding in since the moment she had seen him today.

Then she mentally cursed over how stupid that last part of her sentence must have seemed. Did she have to do that? She always did. She had to leave him with some comment that made he feel better. Make her think that she wasn't as into him as she really. Because she was and it fucking sucked.

She asked for her size in skates and smiled distantly at the woman and thanked her for the skates but she wasn't there the entire time she was looking at him out of the corner of her eye as he got his skates from the other counter. What the hell was wrong with her? She was such a bad ass she didn't have time for all of this bull shit. She needed badly to not have feelings for him and no matter how hard she tried she just did have feelings for him. Maybe if she killed herself it would end up being a lot more simple for her...

She shook the thought out of her head as she sat down on the bench they had out and put the skates on as she tried so hard to not turn around and see what he was doing, did she need to see him or something? Was she afraid that he was just going to up and run off? She sighed and stood walking all funny on the skates, she walked over to him, not gracefully but she got over there. She couldn't stand just looking at him waiting for him to say something because she would probably end up kissing him again and she really did not need to have pretend that didn't happen again.

She grinned a bit trying to keep everything as light as possible then grabbed his arm feeling a tingle hit her immediately, She hated that. She hated how good it made her feel because it made her feel so good.

"Come on...I'm thrilled with the idea of pushing you down on the ice"she grinned and pulled him out to the ice rink seeing her breath soon as they got in there then she pulled him to the edge and then just jumped onto the ice without him and sped off a bit feeling the cold air hitting her lungs. This was much better, she grinned and skated backwards so that she could look at him.

"Come on...What you scared of Me?"she grinned a bit and kept skating avoiding all of the coupled people around her and avoiding all of her feelings too.

Seth refused to come to terms with the idea that this challenge may be affecting him just as much as it was her. He refused to admit that he thought of her often…everything from her wonderful dark hair, to her shining sapphire eyes, to her shining and sarcastic wit that could keep up with his. He wouldn’t admit, either, that when he had first started today he had flirted with that other woman—who was the type he would merely flirt with when bored and he had nothing better to do than lure a woman to his bed—merely to push her out of his mind. Oh no, he would never admit to any of this.

It wasn’t like she was the sweetest woman in the world to him or anything. The entirety of their walk to the Ice rink she was shoving and pushing him. And to be honest, she usually was shoving him or hitting him or insulting him. But that was part of what intrigued him most about her. She didn’t fall all over him or herself. She wasn’t self centered even though she was gorgeous, she was wild and wicked and it caught his attention. For his part, the entire way over he simply laughed and let her shove him, not moving very far when she did. He was a red after all, and a man who ran to keep himself in shape, there wasn’t much of a chance she could move him. But he let her. Because he knew that would make her happier.

Ugh.

Not that it was bad that he did that. He did that for every challenge. Changed himself to please them, paid attention to the little details so that he could remember them and use them to his advantage later. There was nothing different about how he was acting this time. Nothing at all. No matter what his thoughts kept whispering every time he paid a little bit too much attention to her and what made her happy and what pleased her. He just…was treating her like every other challenge. Right? If he kept telling himself that, maybe it would make it true.

He was so wrapped up in his own thoughts and convincing himself that he wasn’t turning soft for this girl that he didn’t even notice the way that she kept, covertly of course with her, looking at him. He would have been amused to have noted it. But instead he was thinking, and the walk over ended up being slightly quiet because of that. He suspected she was spazzing in her own head, knowing her, and he was too wrapped up in his thoughts to notice much else.

When they got to the rink, and waited on line, that was when he noticed she was looking at him. He looked right back at her and offered one of his signature little smirks, golden eyes lighting up with a bit of sarcasm as he did. He paid with the little bit of money he had, the bit provided by the House actually for fledglings like him who had nothing, and he noticed she was uncomfortable with it. She was such a strong female though, and that was another thing that he could actually admit that he admired about her. He always admired strong women. They were made of tougher stuff…and always made it last longer when he decided he wanted a challenge. But she looked so uncomfortable he couldn’t help but reach up and brush his hand against her arm. He almost squeeze her shoulder just to be reassuring, but he caught himself. No, he wouldn’t do that sappy move.

Instead he shook himself off and went into the actual rink. It was a bit chillier he supposed, considering everyone else had a sweater on or something, but being dead technically had its ups too, the silver lining was that he didn’t feel cold. Not unless it was crazy cold out and this wasn’t bad. She huffed and he noticed all the couples, figuring that was what she was having a huffy time about. Oh if only she knew that this was a date and they were another of those couples skating around. Not that they would hold hands or anything sappy like that. He couldn’t help but laugh out loud at her annoyed expression though. It was like they had done her a personal offense from the way that she was reacting to all of this. In a way, he supposed she thought that they were.

She punched him in the shoulder and he looked down at her with another smirk. ”Is violence always your first choice, darling?” he asked her, amusement in his voice. The amusement was partially because he already kknew the answer to that question. The answer being that of course it was, duh. She always got violent first as far as he could tell. The second reason was because had actually managed to get her on a date and she didn’t know what the heck had hit her. Not yet anyway. But Seth was a smart man who valued his life, he didn’t intend to tell her a thing about tricking her on to an actual date of sorts until he could escape with his balls intact and unkicked thank you very much. He did have a brain in his head, even if he let the head downstairs rule him most of the time.

He arched an eyebrow at her next statement though. If she came back? He knew she would. It was a bit weak for her, trying to keep him on his toes he assumed, but he knew that she would come back. He would have teased her about it too, but she had already pushed him and headed to one of the counters for shoes. He assumed this meant that he was not allowed to follow her. He shrugged. Well okay then. He turned and headed over to the other counter, waiting patiently on the line and trying not to see if there were any other beauties in the rink as he waited. He already had a beauty with him, and he had already gotten in trouble for flirting. He would behave himself. He got to the counter and gave his shoe size, taking them with a grateful smile from the woman and then sitting to change his shoes.

He looked over at her as she did the same, sitting down to change her shoes. She wasn’t looking at him, so he could look all that he liked at the graceful way she sat, and arched down to change her shoes, her long dark hair falling forward. Damn how he would like to tangle his hands in that hair again…He growled softly at his own thoughts. He needed to behave a little. Know when to pick his battles, at least when it came to her. She wasn’t someone he could press against the wall and kiss uninvited. Well, not yet anyway. He would play it cool for now. He laced up his shoes tight so that way he wouldn’t break his ankle and stood, and then there she was. He lost track of her while he was lacing his skates. ”Ready to go?” he asked with a grin

She grabbed his arm and he felt the fire spreading out from his touch and nearly cursed mentally. She would undo him, it took all that he had not to kiss her right then. But no, he was in control of this situation, even if she thought she was the one that really was. No, he had to keep a level head or he would reveal far too early that this was a date and she would spaz and try to kill him or run off. Either scenario he didn’t approve of in the slightest.

He laughed when she threatened to push him across the ice. ”Just know, that if you push me I will chase you” he threatened with a playful growl, that came more from him being a man than it did from him being a red. He was careful to temper it that way. It came from practice. He was very proud of being able to do that, thank you very much. He watched her skate backwards, caught by her grace for a moment with a grin. And then he cursed himself mentally again for the thought. He had to be careful or this challenge would eat him alive too. And turn him into something that he had vowed never to be, not ever again. ”How could I be scared of a tame little kitten like you?” he teased as he jumped onto the ice and chased off after her, making it very clear that he was indeed chasing her.

Maybe if he kept things like that, moving quickly, he wouldn’t have the time to keep thinking about this bullshit called love. Or the fact that he may be falling for this challenge of his faster than he cared to admit.

Feelings Suck. Well at least that was what Seph was thinking about. She thought feelings really did suck all they ever did was get you into messes that you couldn't possibly get out of and then what would you do? Nothing, because all you have left is the pain from your feelings. Seph was incredibly jaded in the area of feelings though and she knew why, more reasons than one and she kept repeating them to herself to make herself feel better. Make herself realize that there were reasons she was the way she was and she wasn't just pushing Seth away for the sake of pushing him away.

Seth. This was all of his fault now wasn't it. At least, Seph thought so, if he had never come along then Seph would have been able to move on with her life and not have to worry about boys or anything in the arena of romance. Anyone else never seemed to succeed with Seph and many had tried. Many Many had tried and they all had failed when it came to Seph and she wasn't sure what it was about her that made men want to try and try to date her but she didn't care (usually anyway) Usually, Seph would just yell at one of these boys and they would still try a little bit if they weren't too scared or turned off by her domineering nature, or she would pull out her Epee and threaten to stab them if they ever so much as looked at her again and that usually worked where nothing else did and that would be that and Seph could move on with her life, but not with Seth no no he never made anything that easy for her.

In fact, all he did was make things harder because no matter how mean, no matter how much abuse she sent his way he still kept coming back with more adorable grin on his face....Ugh...See that was more the problem anyway. Not that he kept coming back but the mere fact that she very much wanted him to keep coming back, she was growing more and more attached to him and she could feel it, She didn't like it or at least that was what she kept telling herself, but more over she didn't know what the fuck to do about it. He was just...He was just...He was just so damn appealing she thought to herself as she looked at him.

When she had moved to get her skates and had punched him and he had asked her if violence was always her first choice she had simply grinned and kept walking away because violence really hadn't been her first choice, her first choice had been to kiss him and kiss him hard but she wasn't going to do that because that would mean more things she would have to deny later when he thought to bring it up. She wanted to kiss him though, she did more than she cared to admit.

It was just when their lips touched, she literally felt like someone had just set her on fire and the only way to appease said fire was to keep kissing him and just not stop and let things take them whereever they may go. Seph wasn't like that though! She didn't get lost in guys dreamy eyes, She didn't get lost in there sexy smiles or dream about their kisses over and over again...

Until now that is she thought with a bit of a groan.

She had then put her hand on his arm and started pulling him and she felt the tingles all through her hand and going up her arm and stopping somewhere around her chest, it was enough to make her shiver, and shivering was okay here because she could certainly pass it off as she was cold because she was in an ice rink in nothing but a long sleeve shirt and no coat or anything like that so it was cool. It was perfectly fine, at least that was what she kept telling herself as she pulled him.

She had said that she was excited about pushing him down on the ice and he spoke saying as long as she knew that if she pushed he was going to chase her and then he did something that Seph did not expect,he growled. He actually had a bit of a growl attached to his words and it made heat rise in Seph's stomach and travel all the way to her face. Oh dear, she was very lucky that it was cold in here or she would have been in big trouble.

She just grinned at him and Hopped onto the ice then asking him if he was scared before taking off. The more she stayed away from him the better. Before she could get far though she could hear him say how could he be scared of tame kitten like her and she narrowed her eyes and turned around skating backwards

The only problem was everyone around her was going so fucking slow. They were too busy helping their dates from falling or holding hands on the ice and it just pissed Seph off. Why the fuck did their have to be couples everywhere she went? What were they trying to tell her something? Even if they were it would never work because she was happily not being a couple with anyone...even that dreamy boy that was now gaining speed behind her. She groaned and skated right through a couples hands with a grin and kept moving. She would have screamed sorry if she was in fact sorry but the thing was, she most certainly was not.

She was zooming off and she looked behind her just to see how close she was and that was when some big linebacking looking guy had got in her way and that was when she bumped right into him. That was when she had fallen backwards on the ice with a groan.

Well that was fun, she thought as she laid there, she wasn't too hurt or anything. She just had the wind knocked out of her and if she had the breath to stand she would have gotten up and kicked the guys ass. And to make Matters Worse Seth was here now and she looked just like one of those fucking damsels in distress. Seph was not a damsel in distress. She never had been and she would never would be, no matter how could him holding her sounded about now, the ice was cold and she could use the heat his body always sent through her to warm her up...Not that she was going to tell him that or anything. Her lips for all intents and purposes, were sealed.

"If you offer to help me up I will chop something off"she said with a groan as she sat up some more not really looking at him exactly. She had to add that, the last thing she wanted was for him to think of her as a damsel. She was strong and she wanted him to know that, not that she cared what he thought or anything, No not that she cared even a little bit, not that she cared at all.
