It was sad.
So, so very sad.
So sad that despite all the horrible truths this house held, everything still seemed so perfectly alright from the outside. In fact, there were only two people in this house that desperately wanted out.
Or, at least, Enn was pretty sure Jason was still alive and wanted out of this hellhole too.
But then, Enn wasn't even sure about that, and that bothered her. She was worried about her best friend and the only reassurance she had that her best friend was still not only alive, but fine, was if her brother had been keeping his word every time Enn asked.
Well, he was also her uncle, but lets not get too confusing.
Giggling.
Her baby sisters were giggling and playing, as if all was right with the world and it was okay to be locked in this basement.
Okay, so this had been a lot worse when their father was around! Still didn't change the fact that it was bad. Their father had never set up beds for her and her sisters and had never actually even bothered to try and help them with the problems that came with their birth defects. I mean, sure, Jordan didn't do a very good job of it, but the fact that he was clearly trying made Enn hate him A LITTLE less for killing Bones.
That's right. One of the biggest reasons the rather simple-minded child was furious with her elder and only brother, was the fact that he killed her puppy. Sure, he may claim every time he tried to apologize for it that the little dog had frustrated him with it's excessive barking, but that didn't make it okay that her puppy was dead! Hell fucking no! And Enn was going to STAY mad at him too!
Or, at least, until she was no longer separated from Jason... Or better yet, her brother let them both out! I mean, these were possibilities, right? Sure, the latter was a "once in a blue moon" kinda deal, but the first one had some serious chances, right?
So, as the light spilled in from the high-up and barred over window in the top corner of the room and far out of the frail child's reach, as her younger sisters quietly giggled and played, the eldest (who was also Enn's mother) sitting quietly in the far corner, smiling and slightly rocking back and forth while humming to herself, tiny little Enn was hanging off the side of the bed right underneath the little window, puking up a storm. See, she had warned him that this is exactly what happened to her when she ate food! But, no. He didn't listen! And now, it was Enn that had to suffer the consequences of her brother's idiocy.
What made this situation all the worse was that none of her sisters knew what they were missing. They thought Enn's stories of the things that lay behind the four walls they had grown up and spent all their lives inside were amazing, but completely unreal and untrue things. Nothing but silly fairytales. That twisted Enn's gut into knots. Her sisters were living a lie, a horrible, nasty lie... Was her brother too?
Rusted hinges creaked open. Well, speak of the devil and he shall appear. Enn turned her head ever so slightly to look, still leaning over the side of the bed and towards the metal bucket she had been hurling in. It was still off-settling, for Enn to get used to how her brother and sisters all looked now, because of her affinity. Everyone looked so different to her, but she could never possibly describe how people looked to her. Enn was never good with words, Jason was the smart one after all! Thinking too much usually put Enn in bad situations to be perfectly honest, that's why Enn usually left the thinking to Jason. He was better at it anyways.
"Emily..." she could hear him approaching the bed. You know, if every part of her didn't feel like they weighed a thousand pounds, Enn would have probably pushed herself upright, glared at her big brother, told him not to call her Emily, which would have earned her a harsh smack across the face. Instead, she just kept her head down and listened to what her brother had to say. She doubted he'd start touching her since she had just been throwing up almost seconds ago, but really, with how twisted her relatives were, you just never knew with this kinda thing.
"I got you something..." Got her something? Now this was new. Her sisters had all fell to silence, something that usually only happened when something strange and new to them was in the room. Lowered down to her line of sight was a rather fat cat. Enn kind of wanted to start repeatedly poking it's big belly and roll it around on the floor and make it run to see what would happen. Soon enough, the cat caught sight of a tiny mouse moving on the opposite side of the room, and much faster than one would imagine a fat-cat going, the cat darted across the room, it's fat swaying from side to side as it made it's clumzy chase for the mouse.
Enn was amused, watching the fat feline chase the mouse around, to the extent that she had stopped being cautious of her brother, still seated by her on the bed, stroking her bright electric blue hair and, slowly enough that she hadn't yet noticed, pulling her back up onto the bed. "I love you Emily, my little baby sister..." he murmured, Enn still entirely oblivious to his actions, too entertained by the cat and the mouse, however, she did notice when she felt the hand sliding up the inside of her shirt. "I love you." he whispered into her ear.
Oh god.
Not again.
The screaming started, but no one did anything, her sisters just minded their own business or watched.
She tried to fight him off, she really did, but she was so weak!
So weak and frail.
Katie, one of her sisters, giggled. She thought that Enn's screaming and cursing was silly. After all, their big brother was just showing how he loved her.
As if this was normal for families.
She couldn't stand how lost her family was in this lie this lie.
Would they ever see the truth?
