Isabella Cadence, who went by Cadence or better yet Caddy, bounced around her music room a bit as she got the class ready to go. Her iPod dock in the corner was blasting Funhouse, one of her personal favorite songs that she thought best described the House of Night these days. She grinned a little. Caddy had been here long before all this Kalona hysteria and him taking over. She had just lived a quiet existence and his contribution to their lives here at the house hadn’t changed Caddy at all or the way she taught. She was still a strange woman who liked to do her lessons entirely out of the box. In fact, she had debated taking the class outside today, but figured that the first class in this cycle should be kept as normal as possible. That being said, she had arranged the chairs in her choir room, where she taught all of her classes, in a giant circle where she was currently standing in the middle.
Most of her students knew her already, her music class was mostly a devoted group of kids and she didn’t get very many new students. But she liked her crop of kids and they usually liked her because her teaching style was very laid back. There were only three things she didn’t tolerate: Gum chewing, texting, and lateness. That was about it. She didn’t give tests, she expected their performances to be proof of their growing skills instead. She would randomly put a kid or two on the spot by making them get in the center of the class, but this was a performance class and it should be expected!
She was dancing about the center of her room, going around and putting basic sheet music on the stands that sat in front of each chair. Her first class was a combined one, with both her instrument classes and her vocal ones. She preferred the basic get to know you to come first each year, she liked her students to know her, and to know each other, her classroom was a relaxed environment but she also liked them to know her and her rules. It had worked for the past…ten years or so that she had been teaching, she didn’t see why it wouldn’t still keep working!
She grinned when she noticed that the clock read that it was almost time for her class to start. And sat crosslegged in the swirly office chair in the middle of the room. ”Showtime” she said quietly to herself. She watched as some familiar faces, both her own mentored fledglings and her devoted music lovers, but saw some new faces too. How exciting. She grinned a bit and waited for all the students to be accounted for before she got off her chair.
”Well hey there children” she said with a little grin, walking in a circle around the inside of her little performance type space, where all the chairs were facing. ”Most of you know that I’m Professor Cadence, feel welcome to call me just Cadence” she said, introducing herself, it said basically the same thing on the rolling chalkboard that was next to her rolly chair. ”And most of you know the Three Strikes! Aka my only rules. No Gum! No Lateness! No Texting! Follow those, and I swear you’ll love me” she said with a smile, her music still going in the background but she didn’t bother to turn it off.
What people would learn, was that Caddy was extremely unconventional. She liked music to be going at all times! Her iPod would stop when their instruments or voices started! She was smiling, happy to be there with her students, and ran the fingers of one hand through her close cropped white blonde hair before she continued speaking to her lovely fledglings. ”Now unless you’re blind, you must have noticed the sheet music in front of you…anyone care to sightread the first line? Extra props if you sing it. Oh, and give your name if you’ve never had me before, before you sing.” she said, launching right into her lesson.
Let the new year begin.

Justin Flyte
I just want to celebrate another day of livin', I just want to celebrate another day of life! I put my faith in the people, But the people let me down. So I turned the other way, And I carry on, anyhow. That's why I'm telling you! .xXx. So, Justin was pretty hyper, and currently heading to class. Erm, running to class. Why? He was dangerously close to being late, and he’d heard the Teach had some sort of issue with it. Normally he might not have cared, but he felt like a nice person today. Plus it was his first Music class. There were also first impressions and all that crap to worry about, right? Right. So, that’s why Justin, literally running through the hallways, was attempting not to be late. He raced down the hall, barrelling into a few, poor, innocent children, papers flying up behind him from his open notebooks. It’s not like he had time, or the energy, to take care to stuff all his papers into some organized system. I mean, who does that? Exactly. Justin approached some guy around his height in the hall, and came to a skidding stop in front of him. He was glaring at Justin, and refusing to get out of his way. Noob. Move. Justin narrowed his eyes, before taking a step to the right, then the left. The guy simply... Mirrored the movements. Poop head. Justin sighed, before rolling his eyes. “Dude, move. Or I might just have to shove my notebook up your ass.” He said simply, rocking back on his heels. Justin tended to make odd, completely retarded insults, when hyper. With that, the guy sighed in irritation, before Justin shouldered past, and resumed running down the hall. Why were people like that, anyways? Well, he could partially understand. But when Justin got in someone’s way, he did it with more style. ‘Cause he was gangster like that. He smirked at the thought, before turning into the classroom. He looked around in confusion, coming to a pause, his breath coming in quick little inhales. Why was no one here? Justin looked around briefly, before checking the clock. The one he’d checked in his last class had been two minute early.
“Uh, hey.” He said with a small smile, before going to sit on the top of some desk, letting his legs hang down, barely touching the ground. He’d wait for someone he knew, then go and glomp them or something. Whatever worked; he didn’t really care. Justin looked towards the teacher briefly, as students finally started filing in, wondering if he should have introduced herself. Ah, no big deal. Intro’s and all that could take place later, if she made him sing. Ugh. In front of people. Double Ugh. A little fact about Justin: He didn’t sing on command. Unless he was drunk, or way too giddy for his own good. He wasn’t the best, but he didn’t sound like a dying turkey, either. Which was good! I think? Justin shrugged the topic off mentally, before looking at the papers in front of the desks. Ohh, music. TRICKY. He read over it briefly, listening her, and decided he wouldn’t be one to jump up and sing. Or, maybe he would sing. As long as he did get to jump up. Would a teacher approve of him jumping up on the desk, though? Justin tapped his fingers against his table lightly, looking towards the door. He kind of really wanted to see Cris. But that was fine, right? Right. He was allowed. But, even then, Justin still felt like a creepy stalker person.
Well, I can't be bothered with sorrow, And I can't be bothered with hate, no, no! I'm using up my time by feeling fine, every day, That's why I'm telling you I just want to celebrate! Words: 663 Muse: Alright Notes: He's retarded; I'm retarded. This fails. :3[/blockquote]

Marluxia was actually pretty excited about today. He was pretty excited about going to class today to be specific. Not all of his classes, just his music class. He grinned as he buttoned up his dress shirt. Marluxia always wore dress shirts. It was part of his signature.
He grinned at his reflection, His sapphire blue eyes were glowing almost because of how excited he was about this class because he loved Music so much. He smiled widely, as he grabbed up Artemis and was ready to go, he whipped his head around sending his ebony hair going around his shoulders.
He left his single room practically skipping out, well not skipping because Marluxia didn't skip unless he was trying to bother Cris or something. He grinned, he would be seeing her in this class which would be great. Someone to bother.
The only thing that bothered him was the fact that he had to sing. He loved singing always had. There was just this little thing about his affinity. His affinity to attract people with the sound of his voice. He frowned as he walked, the wind blowing his hair behind him.
What was he going to do if he sang and then someone started fawning? He frowned a bit. He didn't want his affinity to get in the way of his music. It always did and he was so sick of it. He frowned again, he had to do something. Maybe he could talk to the professor or something...
Not that he hadn't been working on it. He had been practicing keeping down the Siren inside of him. He needed to but there as always the chance that it would act up.
He walked into the hall and walked to the classroom and smiled a bit at the professor and then looked around at the music stands. He saw Cris's little boyfriend and grinned. Well then, He hadn't known that he was musically inclined.
He smiled and took the seat two away from him and smiled at the professor listening to her talk a bit. He hoped that everything would go smoothly right now. He didn't need any mishaps. He didn't need any trouble. He just wanted to sit there.
She asked about what was on the stand he smiled. He knew it, but he was so afraid to sing...He frowned. What was he going to do now?

Cris was ecstatic. About what you may ask? About class. Yeah you read right, about class. Cris was beyond happy to get to this class, even if she had conveniently slept through all the other classes before this one. What? She had been tired…and Cris was the type of girl who would sleep the…well…night away if no one woke her up. And Ki wasn’t in the room right this very day to wake her up, so there was no reason for her to want to wake up and go to class. But this class, this was the one she’d wake up for without any question. This was the only class she actually cared about, considering that this was a music class. And music was Cris’s life…quite literally sometimes.
Cris got out of bed, stretching lazily, and put on her usual outfit…torn up jeans and loose tee under her jean jacket. It came so naturally, without a second thought to pull that on over everything else. It was cold out, it was winter, blah blah blah. Cris didn’t care, she didn’t need anything more then her jacket and she was good to go. She pushed her red bangs out of her face with a pair of goggles, slung Crimson in her case of course, over her shoulder, and headed out the door. Was it likely she’d get in shit if someone noticed this was her first class she was going to today? Probably. Did she care? Nah not really. They should get used to it already really, she was always skipping classes as often as possible. She hated class, waste of time.
All but this one.
This one was worth it. She grinned a little, knowing she’d see Lux. It wasn’t even a question, they both when out of their way to make sure they were in music class, considering both were musically inclined. And she hadn’t bugged him in far too long, that had to change as soon as possible. She liked bugging him too much, it was like her own personal sport.
When she got to the class, she saluted the Professor lazily, actually being on time. ”Caddy” she said with a little grin. Technically she knew Cadence preferred not to be called that on class time, she preferred to attempt to be all professional, and fail if you asked Cris about it. Caddy was too cool to be professional at all and sometimes it bugged Cris that she even tried. It mostly bugged Cris that she tried to tug her out of her shell all the time though.
Caddy was her mentor. Had been since she was a third former, had been through both her near deaths with her, saw her ice up and tried to pull her out of her shell all the fucking time. It was so annoying and agrivated Cris to no end. And yet, Cris still managed to adore her as a professor. Because while she tugged, she also encouraged Cris to get more into her music. Which was a good thing to Cris, so she could deal with the tugging sometimes. Sometimes being the key factor.
She grinned when she saw Lux and Justin. Well, she hadn’t expected her boyfriend to be in this class, but thinking back to their odd little date the other day, she remembered that he did sing, even if he seemed to keep it to himself. Lux and Justin, her two favorite boys. Which was a hrd thing to achieve with Cris because she liked a lot of boys, but these two were easily her favorite. And would you look at that, there was a spot right in between them! She kissed Lux’s cheek and then Justin’s with a grin and didn’t care what either boy thought about that.
Caddy went through her usual spiel and Cris rolled her eyes, sliding back in her speech and tuning her favorite professor out because she hated the usual speeches. She had been in classes of music her whole fledgling career. She knew the deal. It wasn’t until Caddy actually gave them a task to do that Cris actually sat up in her chair and looked at the sheet music in front of her, without being asked, or raising her hand to bother to ask, she sang the first line.
Easy.

Ash was looking forward to Music class... it was the only class she actually loved. She got to express her creativity in the way she knew how... through Piano. She was blessed with the gift to play, and she can recall any piece of piano music shown or known. Not to mention her ability to compose anywhere for small pieces to complete symphonies when the muse struck her. She had composed a small piece of music that was slow and sad... she wrote it while debating if she would call her mother or not. After four years of not calling her, Ash didn’t know why she would even think about it now.
Ash tolerated her music instructor, but she did think she was to laid back. She’d known the instructor since before the entire Kalona thing and was one of her favourite teachers. She wasn’t, however, the one Ash went to when she ahd a problem. She was to bubbly, to happy all the time. Ash wondered if she had been intimidating her first day here... already mostly covered in tattoos. Then she thought about how she would look now, completely covered with more stars on her face than before. Ash walked into the room as silently as ever, and made sure to stay away from the other students. She wasn’t going to be touched by any of them. Even the grown Vampyres knew better than to touch her... they didn’t need the Fear Factor acting up again.
Ash stared at the sheet music Cadence had placed around the room and didn’t even take a second glance. She already knew the piece. She didn’t really need sheet music, but it did help when it came time to remember which piece to play. Ash listened as her teacher spoke ”Well hey there children” she said and Ash found a seat close by the Piano’s... she would be playing the piano after all. ”Most of you know that I’m Professor Cadence, feel welcome to call me just Cadence” she said introducing herself. Of course Ash already knew exactly who she was, so she was only half paying attention to her instructor. ”And most of you know the Three Strikes! Aka my only rules. No Gum! No Lateness! No Texting! Follow those, and I swear you’ll love me.” she said. Ash never chewed gum, only her nails. She was never late, this was her favourite class so if anything she would try to be early, and She never texted... unless it was a complete emergency. She usually ignored her phone unless someone was desperately trying to get a hold of her... even then she may ignore them.
”Now unless you’re blind, you must have noticed the sheet music in front of you... anyone care to sightread the first line? Extra props if you sing it. Oh, and give your name if you’ve never had me before, before you sing.” She said. Ash kept her arms firmly at her sides. Ash wouldn’t be the one to sing, she despised her singing voice. It wasn’t beautiful or clear like the other girls. It was gruff and edgy. It may have sounded good with some rock music in the background but not alone... with no music... and no one else backing her up. Ash leaned back in her chair. Crossing her arms against her chest as she listened to the others sing. Music was her life... was her soul... but singing was a whole different matter.
Ask her to compose a symphony? And she could do it, all the teachers knew that. Ask her to play Piano? She could do that... angelically. Ask her to sing? You’d get shot down faster than if you had tried to touch her or hit on her. Ash envied those girls who had crystal clear voices, and their angelic ways. Ash was never angelic, she couldn’t be. She was bad to her very core. She wasn’t good, she wasn’t even a rebel... she was a villain, and people were wise to stay out of her way.
Most girls at the house of night couldn’t even tell if Ash was a Fledgling or a vampyre. She considered them stupid. She obviously wasn’t a vampyre, despite all the facial tattoos. That was nothing but ink, and her real tattoos would be much more frightening. Ash had a feeling, that when she survived the change, that the world should look out for her. Because when she changed they better watch out. Something wicked this way comes, and her name is Ash Sin.

Caddy was happy to see some new faces enter the room! She was also ecstatic to see some familiar faces returning as well. Good to see that those that had been devoted to music the year before were still keeping up with it. Sometimes they decided it wasn’t for them, or that they wanted to move on to something different. Or the worst, it was just a hobby and nothing important. Music was always important! It was all around them, even if they didn’t have their headphones in with the latest beats playing in their ears, there was music in the air. Most teenagers these days, couldn’t live without music.
Music was the beat of the soul.
Ooh, that was a good one, she’d have to remember that for later. She grinned to herself as she thought about that little tidbit of information. Beat of the soul, that was good. Anyway, she turned, surveying her class now that they were all here, and she gave her usual deals, her usual three strikes. She was a laid back prof, hence why most of her fledglings tended to stay with her even if music wasn’t their forte. She tried never to judge anyone, and always kept an open mind when it came to music.
And then she asked them to read the first line of the sheet music that sat before them. And with no provocation, a voice sung it out, getting it right. She turned towards the voice but she knew who it belonged to. Even if she wasn’t one of her regular students, Crissatha Pandora was a fledgling she mentored so she knew her. She grinned a bit. ”That’s right, but next time remember to raise your hand, eh Crissatha?” she didn’t mind as much, but she knew the girl was just doing it to be a little bit of a nudge, she knew the girl well enough to know this, and tended to let her get away with it more than she should because of it. Surprise, surprise, she was sitting next to Marluxia. Caddy had expected that one.
She also had expected him not to sing, given his affinity. Poor boy, she didn’t know what she’d do if she had one such as that. Taking stock of the room, she noticed Ash as well and smiled, girl was gifted with the instruments. That was good, as well, but she knew the girl wouldn’t sing. So, to get them all involved…”Marluxia and Ash, I know you both won’t sing, so if you don’t mind playing the next two lines? Marluxia first and then Ash she asked with a grin, guesturing to the Piano that sat next to her. She knew both could play, so it wasn’t aksing much.
And then she turned her attention to the boy who had yet to speak, but seemed to know Crissatha. Well that was well and good but she adored getting everyone involved. ”And you are…?” she asked, looking at the boy, waiting for the name before continuing. ”You can sing or play or whatever you prefer the line after Ash’s” she said, grinning still.
People would learn, Caddy didn’t like to let anyone sit and be quiet in her classroom. No, she was spontaneous and she liked it loud!
