Pride was bored. This happened from time to time. He had come to terms with the fact that he only really had Raea and his family from back home, and as much as he loved Raea—because he did—it was a bit of a bummer to realize. He really needed more friends. Guy friends. Yeah, too much estrogen flooding the room lately, as much as he was a gentleman. Because he was, Pride was one heck of a gentleman and a sweet heart. He believed chivalry wasn’t dead and everyone deserved a second chance. He always was good to people and believed the best. It was unusual but it was just how he was and he didn’t intend to change. He had just been raised right, hard not to be when one was around his Mum. No, not the one by birth, the one who might as well have been. When one thought about Pride’s past, it was so surprising that he turned out the way he did. That he was so sweet and kind and forgiving. That he was an optimist that always believed and hoped for the best. It just seemed bizarre considering for most of his life he had been held captive by a psycho. It was weird. And even Pride had no idea how it happened, but he knew he had Reesa and Mara to thank considering how hard it was to be mopey around the pair of them, they were just…hard to be upset around. Not when Reesa was a nut that always needed saving and Mara was so kind hearted you never wanted to be anything but polite around her. If there had ever been any chance that Pride would be badly affected by his childhood, those two had squashed it. And Adrian’s presence had ground it to the dirt and broke it into a million little pieces. Pride adored Adrian, his little brother and he knew the boy stood up to him. That was why he always looked on the bright side. But this chivalry and kind hearted-ness tended to attract female friends more then it did male friends. And Pride sorely needed that. As kind as he was, he was still a dude. And he was pretty sure he was starting to grow a uterus or something. Yes, Pride did have thoughts like that, he just kept them way to himself, no reason for anyone else to know about those thoughts at all. Unless it was a dude. Then it was acceptable, but he had no guy friends! It kept going back to that! He shook his head and went back to his run with Juno on the Marina. No one was really up and about at this time, not when he got up so early to run with her. But she needed her exercise and so did he. There were humans milling around still, just starting their night when most of his fellow fledglings were still sound asleep. It was weird to not have the place all asleep, but they were used to being only with people who had a nocturnal schedule, so he supposed that was why. Anyway, he weaved in and out of the humans who looked at him weird. Not because his shirt was off, he knew, but because he wasn’t bothering to cover up his Mark and he knew that made him an oddity. Whatever, they could stare all they wanted, he was just enjoying his run and honestly hadn’t even noticed they were looking. He wasn’t like that, he didn’t notice these things. He was too innocent in that sense. He pulled his shirt back on as he reentered the hotel, figuring it was only decent. Running his fingers through his hair, he hadn’t realized he had lightened his hair subconsciously in the sun until it was kind of a dark, sandy blonde and his eyes had lightened to a kinda burnished gold color. Honestly, he hadn’t even realized his did it. Most of what he did with his affinity was all little things he thought and he didn’t realize it. If he was thinking about the sun or the night, his looks would lighten to a golden color, if he was thinking darker his looks would darken, he couldn’t always control it. Though his scars always stayed hidden, he had that much control. He swiped his card through the key holder thing and entered the room, yawning and letting Juno enter in first before he closed the door behind him. The room was dark, because it was now completely dark out most likely, and one of his roommates was missing who knew where. He hadn’t really talked to either much, he had been too busy. The other though was in the room and he nodded a bit. ”Mornin’” he said as he plopped down on his bed, just being friendly. Marluxia was very bored. He hated being bored. It was annoying. He was normally content with just sitting there and waiting for some girl to come and knock on his door which they always did. Tonight though, he wanted to go out. Do something, yet at the same time he had no energy to move.
He sighed as he sat there, his white button down completely open. His room mates were no where to be found and Marluxia didn't really mind. He never liked room mates, back at the House of Night he lived in a single and did it happily so. He could never afford to have to a room mate. He would have to kick them out almost every night so that he could be alone with his exploits. So him being a lone was pretty key to his existence.
He strummed a few chords on his prize acoustic guitar. Artemis. Marluxia was a musician before he was anything, if he was going to end up sitting here and doing nothing in this room, then he was glad that he got to do it with Artemis. He always named his instruments after Greek Goddesses. His old guitar, he had named Athena. Then he had left it to go hit on a girl and it had been run over by a car...
He wrinkled his nose thinking about it, It hadn't been the smartest move no. Nothing he could do about it now though. He shrugged and played a few more chords. Then he sighed and put the guitar down, wishing that he had a piano. He loved the piano just as much as he loved the guitar, sometimes more. Piano's spoke to him so much. He shook his head, not that he would find one around here.
He walked over to the window and looked at the sunrising and smiled. He appreciated a good sunrise. He leaned his head against the windows glass and just sighed a bit. He was so bored. He ran a finger through the ebony locks that cascaded down his back and came across no knots as usual. He could smile at that. He always brushed his waist length hair to perfection. His sapphire eyes were shining, but not with there usual excitement. They were almost glazed over with boredom.
He sighed and walked back over to the bed. He needed to do something, he was going to play a song he decided. He had to do something or he was going to drive himself insane. He picked up the guitar and played the same chords that he had played before and then started up a song. He didn't know what exactly he was playing, it sounded familiar but for all he knew he could be just playing something that had come to him in his mind.
He had done that lately. He would just think about some form of music and then he would just play it. He was writing songs without words all of the time and he wasn't sure what to think about it. He did like that he was doing it but he didn't know what to do with them and if he wanted to add words to them at all...
As he had been thinking about that he had been playing the song all the way through, it was like his hands just knew the way. His brain just knew that he wanted certain things to be played. He smiled shaking his head and then just put the guitar back down on the bed not knowing what else to do now that he had successfully playing a song that he probably wouldn't remember later.
That was when he heard someone sliding there key into the door. He didn't know which of his room mates it would, to be honest he hadn't been paying attention to either of them. Marluxia wasn't all that self centered in that manner it was just that he didn't really pay attention to guys. He shrugged it off and looked to see who was coming in.
A dog came in and he smiled, he loved animals. He watched the dog come in and then the owner of the dog came in. He wasn't sure which one this was exactly, but he thought his name was pride. The guy said Morning and Marluxia nodded.
"Morning it is...Pride right? Out for a run? he asked with a small smile. Marluxia was being nice. This was his room mate after all. He moved over back near his bed and the guitar and just sat waiting for a response.

Pride always needed his run, twice a day. Well, to be more precise, Juno needed her run twice a day. It kept her in shape as much as was possible, and kept her fit. And it didn’t hurt that it kept him in shape as well, not that he was vain about his looks but it helped him stay fit, helped him stay active and that was the factor that he could appreciate. Juno was worn, but that didn’t stop her slightly prancing gate as they made their way to the room they had been assigned with two other people. He hadn’t really interacted with either boy because he had been focused on being with his girl, but now she was with her friends.
Which meant he was on his own. Joy. Oh well, he planned to bum it out and maybe read, but he also hadn’t counted on another person being in the room. For the past few days that they had been here, the other two had been out every time he had come in, he hadn’t been expecting either of them to be here, but here one was…Marluxia he believed, though he wasn’t entirely sure. Which bothered Pride because he liked to know things if he could help it, and here he was, caught at a loss with a simple name. Oh well. He sat down on his bed and said morning either way. The other male smiled a bit, just being friendly he supposed and replied.
While the other boy, he thought it was Marluxia, he really did, spoke…Pride busied himself putting the bowl for Juno down and filling it with water for her. He knew the moment she was done with her water she’d insist in meeting the other person in the room, which Pride hoped he didn’t mind, but until then she’d be a lady and drink her water. Pride grinned a bit, looking up from his dog with still golden eyes and a slight grin, when he spoke. Yeah, was it that obvious? Oh well. ”Yeah, I’m Pride. And yes again on the run. Ms. Juno over here needs to run or she goes insane” he said with a small chuckle. His Juno was his pride, not to put a pun on words, in a lot of ways. His constant companion.
He leaned back on the bed a bit, still not having caught his breath entirely from the run only minutes before. He needed a moment to simply catch his breath. ”Marluxia, right?” he asked, annoyed he didn’t know for sure, it would nag at him later if he hadn’t asked. Then again, having a friendly conversation while not knowing someone’s name wasn’t Pride’s style. He was always polite, always careful. He liked to follow the rules of polite society as best as he could, so there was no chance he wouldn’t have asked even if it wasn’t bothering him. Even if he knew for sure he would have asked, it was impolite to just assume these things.
He shook his head with a little grin at yet another thought that popped into his head. ”Odd that you can spend nearly a week in a room with one person and not have a conversation He just had to mention it, he found it too amusing not to. It was more him musing to himself than really saying it out loud, which meant he wouldn’t be insulted if the other man didn’t answer him or even acknowledge it.
And then what he had slightly feared had happened. Juno went from being perfect lady to showing that she really was still a puppy. She had finished her water and was no re-energized, a fact that Pride envied because he had yet to get the metaphorical spring back in his step. Either way, she then noticed the other person in the room and being that Juno saw the need to check out every new person, she immediately went over to him, nudging his hand with her nose and sniffing, both expecting to be pet as well as expecting to be allowed to check him out. It was the way the puppy was. ”Sorry, she’s a bit spoiled, but she’s sweet” he said with a chuckle about his dog.

Marluxia didn't mind pleasant conversation, he had it with women all the time. Now when it came to men, that was where the problem was. Marluxia just did not get a long with other guys. He usually chalked it up to their jealousy at the fact that Marluxia had most of women at his heels. Some times it was actually their women but it wasn't like he felt bad or anything. If the girls were leaving them then they did something wrong not him. Back to the point though, for what ever reasons, his conversations were always with someone female.
Back at the house, he had no room mate and he liked it that way. It made it easier for him, he could have any girl he wanted over without having to put a sock on the door or worry about her staying over in the dorm that night. It was all what ever they wanted and what ever he wanted and he didn't have to worry about any cock blocks getting in his way.
That didn't mean that he didn't want friends though. He had Cris who was his best friend and that was all great, but having a male friend to compare how many asses they've tapped that week was even more fun. Not that he didn't do that with Cris, well he used too. Now she wasn't even doing anything because of that weirdo boyfriend of hers. Regardless though, Marluxia needed a dude friend to bond with it was just hard to find one.
He had two room mates here in Atlantis and He didn't know either of them. Just further proving his point.
That of course had been when one of the roommates in question had come in with his dog from what looked like a run. Marluxia thought this was as good a time as any to make some friends. Well at least make friends with this guy as long as he wasn't like some strange weirdo. There a lot of those, he seemed normal enough though.
Marluxia asked him if he had been out for a run and had questioned whether his name was Pride or not. He seemed to be getting water for the dog and Marluxia just smiled as he did waiting to hear the answer. He said that yes his name was Pride (ha! he knew he had it right) and that he had been out for run (Right again!) apparently the dog didn't like if she didn't get her run in and Marluxia nodded knowingly
He had never had a pet himself but animals always seemed to like him. Whether it was a dog or a cat or a bird. They all seemed to like him and since he had nothing against them he considered himself an animal lover.
"I see, well most dogs are that way aren't they?"he said blandly with some vague curiosity. He knew it to be true, you didn't have to have a dog to know that they liked to run around and play and do all types of crazy stuff. It was sort of just common knowledge of the American world.
Marluxia studied Pride a bit, the guy was obviously exhausted from his run but he still looked like he was not a weirdo and that got him some points in the Marluxia needs a friend book. Pride questioned what his name was saying it and Marluxia nodded, there was something else in the guys favor "Right"
He was grinning like he found something funny and Marluxia raised an eyebrow at him. Perhaps he was a psycho, he mentally sighed. That was potentially problematic. He shrugged a bit and then Pride spoke again talking about how it was funny how you could share a room with someone and not talk to them or something like that and Marluxia grinned. He was definitely right, it was interesting how they all slept in this room but had not said anything to each other
"Well to my defense, I am not usually in here, I have ladies that need tending to normally"Marluxia grinned at him at that. This was true, Marluxia was a ladies man. Mostly everyone was aware of this but he wouldn't be sure that this guy would, he didn't seem like he would be the type who would just sit and listen to all the idle gossip that floats around The House Of Night.
Then the dog, whose name he thought he was Juno, padded her adorable self over to him and started sniffing his hand and nuzzling against his hand and he grinned a bit and started petting the beautiful animal. Like he had said before he really liked animals.
Pride was apologizing but he shook his head waving him off. "Nah she's adorable and we all deserve a little love sometimes"he said with a bit of a grin, this guy seemed okay. Perhaps he'd found a friend after all.

Pride had, honestly, not expected to be sitting here pleasantly talking to another guy like it was nothing. Pride had noticed in the past years he had secluded himself a little bit. That was mostly because his studies and his acting and, of course, Raea came first. It had made him become a bit of a recluse he realized, but he hadn’t done it on purpose, no, not in the slightest. In reality, Pride really was a people person. He hadn’t noticed himself pulling into himself like he had and he made a note to fix that as soon as possible. He figured he was already taking steps towards that now with talking to the boy he had spent an entire week sharing a room with and had yet to meet. Smooth.
That was better than he was with his roommate, Xander, though. He had a feeling he barely knew the dude, he made a mental note to work on that too. He would easily weave himself back into the thread of being a people person if he tried, he just needed to make the effort to actually try again. And realizing he was doing it was the first step towards that, right? He smiled a bit to himself. He had had this whole mental rant to himself while he was trying to catch his breath, but he tuned back into the conversation instead. See, that was probably why he had this predicament in the first place. Right? It was possible.
Besides, it wasn’t like he didn’t, faintly at least, know of his roommate. It was hard not to know who certain people were in a school like theirs. Certain people just stood out in the rumor mill. He was happy to note he was not one of those people. But again, that probably linked back to the problem he had been thinking about moments ago…he shook his head. No, this train of thought wasn’t helping him get into the conversation at all, and he was genuinely happy to talk to Marluxia. He seemed like an interesting guy. Pride reached over to get out the water for his pup, she had to be exhausted in this heat, as Marluxia correctly guessed his name and what he had been doing, and Pride gave the pup her water, letting her drink it while he spoke.
He nodded when Marluxia made the comment about most dogs being like that. Yeah, they are. Juno’s a husky though so they require a bit more then most but…” he shrugged, ”Keeps me in shape at least so that’s a plus” he said absentmindedly with another shrug. It wasn’t something he really cared about. He was glad of his shape, it meant he could run and be physical without hurting himself doing so, but it didn’t mean that was everything to him. He could live just fine without being in shape as long as he could run. He then guessed Marluxia’s name and was rewarded with the other guy telling him he was right, he nodded, glad to have guessed right.
And that was when a grin had sprung to Pride’s lips, thinking about how they had spent this whole week in the same room and this was the first time they had actually bothered to talk to one another. Being his totally oblivious self, he hadn’t actually noticed Marluxia looking at him like he was a crazy person because of the smile, but he did see the answering smile on the other fledgling’s face when Pride actually spoke what he was thinking and the other boy agreed, mentioning the other ladies that he had to attend to. Pride chuckled. He didn’t pay much attention to the rumor mill, so he hadn’t heard all that much about this guy aside from his name, he didn’t know if he had a reputation that way.
He nodded though. ”Good excuse. Personally…I’m usually off with my girlfriend” he said with a small nod. ”So I guess it’s thanks to women we haven’t met yet” he said, coming to the natural conclusion, without really blaming women. Pride never blamed anyone if he could help it, his nature was too honestly gentle for that. Right now anyway, a few years ago that was an entirely different fact, but he had calmed down since dating Raea.
And that was when the real leading lady in his life, his puppy, finished her water and noticed that there was another person in the room. Pride watched his dog go over to the other fledgling from his place on his bed and shook his head. She was going to be very insistant on being pet, if he knew his puppy, but she usually behaved very well. He apologized for the dog right off, but Marluxia waved him off. The way he was being so good with his dog, that put him in Pride’s good books right away. Anyone who loved animals wasn’t usually a bad person in his experience.
He grinned a bit, watching as Juno’s big plumy tail wagged back and forth like a whip as she got pet and could still check out the other dude. She seemed to like the guy, which was another thing in his favor. Well, maybe he was on his way to being less of a recluse after all. ”Very true” he replied, laying back on his bed a little so he could lean against the wall and try to regain his breath.
