Amelie sighed as the ringtone, the very specific ring tone, rang through her very classic white office. She knew that ring tone. And she knew why it was going off too. She pinched the bridge of her nose, the only sign of worry that showed on her icy visage. She was otherwise composed, but there was something about this message that set her on edge. She knew what it was of course, but anyone watching would wonder what got their icy boss so rattled, because she was rattled. She hated when Myrnin got himself into trouble. And she knew he had gotten himself into trouble if he was calling her, he tried not to because apparently she worried too much. Myrnin was her oldest friend, and her closest, the only person in this world she even cared slightly abouut. Now that her beloved was dead after all. She reached out to lightly stroke the Egyptian Mau who was perched on the desk as she thought about that. He was named after her beloved after all.
Plucking her white suit jacket from the back of her chair and pressing the green button on her phone, she spoke two simple words into the device. "I'm coming" her phone had traced the call as soon as it had recognized the number of course, she had set it up to do so. Myrnin didn't always know where he was. She was leaving work early, but seeing as she was the boss and owned the corporation, she didn't think that anyone would mind. Unlike the other Professors at teh House of Night, teaching wasn't Amelie's life. She was only there to keep an eye on Myrnin, who someone without braincells had let teach. Not a smart idea in the slightest. So she taught to watch him.
Because, despite her better judgement, she cared for him.
Slipping into her car which was conveniently parked just outside the entrance in her usual spot, she followed her phone's direction. As she got out of the car at her final destination, her face was entirely passive as she surveyed where her friend had ended up. And if she actually showed her emotions she would have sighed. Instead she left the car and walked down the alley towards the monster in her closest friend's skin. Her heels, and their sharp stiletto clicking being the only noise she made as she came over to him. Digging into her pocket, she held out a bag of blood to the slumped figure.
She wasn't going to get any closer to him until he took that from her hands. She knew that he wouldn't try to take a piece out of her of all people, but she wasn't going to take that chance, not with him and not when he had to have been bad enough to call her. She didn't look at him with any sympathy, he knew she had it for him without the emotion necessary. She didn't bend to try and see if he was alright, because she could look over him to see that with her own two eyes. She did ask one quuestion though. Even if it came out like a demand. That was a bad habit with Amelie, she could never ask a simple question, she had been raised to make demands not ask things. Especially not when she wouldn't take refusal to answer the question as an answer. Not with him especially. He called her, he could deal with the concequences. "Tell me what happened."

The sane part of Myrnin was very glad that the girl had left. He let out relieved breaths over and over as he smelled her scent getting farther and farther away. At least the sane part of him did. The insane part of him...well it was practically kicking him for letting the little thing get away...
She was perfect!his own voice just more crazy yelled to him from inside his head Weak and vulnerable and practically a child! the blood would have come easily down your throat..it would have been warm and slick-
Myrnin groaned and clamped his hands to his head, trying desperately to hold on to his cool. If he didn't have some tpye of blood soon...He was going to go out looking for someone to drink from and if he did that it would be that persons last night on this earth...Myrnin winced...he didn't want that. He didn't want to take someones life.
Hadn't he taken enough already?
He laid there, remembering all of the people he had killed all of the assistants who that day had just seemed like a good snack. He winced again, those people hadn't deserved what happened to them but there was nothing he could do about them now.
Gee Myrnin...Never knew you were so remorseful...whispered Ada's amused voice. Ada, Ada had been an assistant just like the others the only difference being that he loved her and that she was the only one who's voice he heard in his head...aside from his own insanity of course. He ignored Ada though, not wanting to get into conversation with her right at that moment because he didn't feel like it.
He wasn't going to have to worry about that though. He wasn't going to eat someone tonight. Amelie was coming, he really had Ada to thank for planting the idea in his head but Amelie was coming and that was the important part.
When things were this bad, that was the only time he actually called Amelie, He never wanted to bother her with things he could handle himself. No, he would only bother her when things were very bad..Like when he was curled up on the ground clutching himself because he was fighting the urge to not eat anyone. Yes this was bad enough for a call.
He was getting restless though, when the hell was she coming?
That was when he heard the sound of heels. Very nice heels at that...How do you know their nice?Ada murmured skeptically Because Amelie only buys nice things..duh]Myrnin said back to her with a shake of his head. He could hear it in her walk that it was Amelie..not to mention the smell of her blood as well...He groaned and turned a bit, He wouldn't hurt her but he didn't wanna risk it.
She came down to him and was standing close and not to close and he turned back towards her taking the bag of blood that she was extending, he didn't bother with trying to look decent he just tore it open with his mouth and sucked down the beautiful liquid like had been lost in the desert for a month and that was his first cup of water.
When he was done he sat himself up and leaned against the damp brick wall for support breathing deeply as he felt his insanity ebb for the moment and Ada was as quiet as ever. She was often quiet around Amelie but Myrnin never asked why,he didn't really care.
Amelie spoke, asking him what happened and Myrnin looked down twiddling the empty bag in his fingers before looking at her straight in the eyes and saying
'What always happens?...I woke up here hungry..not remembering how I came here and was hungry...a girl came by...She wasn't enough"
He said simply before just sighed and leaning his head back against the wall. He was okay for now, but he really didn't need another lecture either.

Amelie watched with impassive eyes as Myrnin sucked down the blood. He needed it, this she knew without question. He wouldn't have called her if he didn't, he wouldn't have called her if he wasn't in trouble. And with Myrnin, trouble always related to something to do with blood. He couldn't control himself when it came to that. As long as he didn't kill anyone. It was messy to clean up after that and it was simply a bother. Then there was the factor of having to try and find where the girl had come from and paying off the person's family so that way they wouldn't try to go after Myrnin. Because Amelie didn't want to clean up the death of a whole family if they thought about going after Amelie's slightly unhinged friend. And she used Slightly, lightly. Myrnin wasn't always all there.
It didn't stop Amelie from caring for him.
Their relationship didn't make much sense on the outside. And if they hadn't met back with both were sane, chances are they wouldn't have been as close as they were now. Back then Myrnin was sane and Amelie wasn't as cold hearted as she was now. Now, she was so far gone icy she doubted she would ever come back from that. It was what happened when one saw the person whom they loved murdered right in front of them. It had damaged her irrepairably to have seen Sam killed. And she doubted she'd ever come back from it.
She waited while he slurped down the blood she had tossed to him before listening to his answer, looking back at him with impassive eyes that still held a hint of emotion. In the back of her eyes she knew there was sadness. Sadness that he had lost his mind like this where it was improbable that he would always be coherant enough to talk to her like this. She missed when he used to sit with her at the old fountain and they would talk and he would make her laugh. And the way they used to be before the world damaged them both... Oh well...
She shook her head.
"Not surprised. No offense meant old friend. Do you need more than that" she asked without really going into the emotion behind it. At least he hadn't killed her. That was what she was happy about. There was no dead body lying by him that meant she had managed to get away. It worried her a bit that he had managed to get here without knowing how it happened tho. It meant that he was blacking out and moving again. That was bad with his tendency to eat people. She needed to get him back to his lab.
She sighed and looked around the alley. She looked distastefully at the garbage and filth that lined this place. He would have to wake up in an alley of all things, wouldn't he?

Myrnin hated this. He hated every minute of this...No..No..hate wasn't strong enough of a word. Myrnin loathed this. This entire situation. He hated it so much...What exactly was it that bothered him so much? Was it the black outs? No...he was so used to that...Was it the steadily increasing body count? No...Myrnin was so used to that by now...It was the hunger. The mind numbing stomach ripping hunger.
That of course, is what started it all...If it wasn't for the hunger. There wouldn't be any black outs. No body counts. No nothing...Myrnin was so used to the fact that almost every time this happened. Someone else's body was next to him. Just another life he had taken. Just another shell...Maybe he was doing these people a favor...Letting them free of their shell.
Myrnin shook his head. There was no way that him saying that was going to make any of this better. Sitting here, thinking about how once again he had had one of his issues was not going to make them go away. That was what he had his research for...He would fix it...He would fix it...
Gee Myrnin...As Much as I love to sit here and listen to you wrestle around with your self loathing...Amelie is right there and speaking and looking right at you...Myrnin looked up at her. Ada was right for once. not that he was going to tell her that. Ada did not need anything else to boost her ego. Besides she wasn't speaking up for his welfare. She was speaking up for hers. Ada was uncomfortable around Amelie. though he should speak up.
Amelie had said she was not surprised (why should she be this had happened enough) and Myrnin just nodded still clutching his stomach slightly. Then she asked an important question whether he needed more. He didn't say anything at first. He had to actually think about it. His hunger had silenced inside of his mind but that didn't mean anything at all. It could start up at any point in time if he was not properly satiated. He took a deep deep breath and sighed a bit. He would be fine.
[b"No..No..I'm fine."b]he said in a low voice. He then stood slowly and turned toward her slowly, she was looking around the alley with complete distaste and a flicker of amusement crossed over his eyes.
He knew very well that she did not like this any more than he did and his choice of places to black out in definitely was upsetting her.
"thought you'd be picking me up at a restaurant?" he asked with a ghost of a smile. It wasn't a real smile but it was something at least. He would feel better in good time. Until then he just needed to pace himself.

Amelie waited patiently, or rather, what appeared to be patiently, while Myrnin got lost in his own thoughts. It happened quite often and she was quite used to it. Nothing to cry over, spilt milk and all that. A slight look of distaste passed her features at that one. Was she getting so heartless that she had just thought of the only person she considered a friend anymore as spilt milk? Apparently so, she would have to keep a closer eye on that. No one can be heartless all the time after all, not even Amelie. They all had their soft spots, whether they admitted it or not was the only question.
Amelie knew for a fact that Myrnin was hers. She didn’t let this bother her, and simply made sure he was cared for and had what he needed when he needed it, that was what Amelie did. For him, if no one else.
He finally seemed to actually listen to her and she paid attention. He said he was fine but he had been clutching his stomach only moments before. She frowned slightly, distasteful once again. If he was simply refusing more in an attempt to make her feel better or something foolish as that she would not be pleased in the slightest. Her hand found the other packet of blood she had stashed into her other pocket. She had it just in case, whether he claimed to need it or not, she would simply have to remember it was there and keep an eye on him. She had yet to let the man bite her and that would not start tonight.
It was then that she couldn’t help but be distasteful of where he had managed to black out. He would manage to do this here, wouldn’t he. It was always an alleyway with this man or some dark dingy corner. Though, in retrospect that was a good thing, it meant that no one saw him or screamed worse yet, that wouldn’t be good for the monster that lived in her nearest and dearest friend’s skin. It would probably only make it worse which was something that Amelie would not tolerate. So she supposed it was a good thing she had ended up here tonight rather than the fancy hotel across the way or something such as that.
When she returned her attention to Myrnin he had stood, the tall figure she was used to once more and not the pathetic shell of one slumped against an alley wall. She very much so approved of this turn of events. She preferred him sane as well, but they were working on fixing that half of the dilemma. With Amelie’s resources and Myrnin’s vast talent, she had no doubt that they would fix this soon enough. Hopefully. She frowned slightly at that word, she did not often think it, it was a weird thought to allow to cross her mind.
Obviously he had noticed her distaste, however, given his comment. A flicker of amusement, short and fleeting but there none the less, passed over her face at his comment. That was what happened when she was with Myrnin. He made her smile. Always had. She shook her head, the icy visage settling back in to place as she did. ”Just happy not to be picking up a body, Myrnin” was her answer for him, icy as always and hiding away any amusement she had felt only moments before. He would know it had been there, he knew her that well, let it be that way.
Given that Myrnin had been the one to find her, attempting to pour her own blood down to Sam, to kill herself or resurrect him she was not even sure of which anymore. Sobbing and a mess, but still emotionless somehow. That was how he had found her and he had brought her back to sanity, back when he himself was still sane as well. She owed him a save or two for that, and also she would not allow him to wander the streets as a monster. She owed more to their friendship than that.
And without another though, she turned and the sharp staccato of her heels filled the alley again as she headed back to her car without another word, fully expecting him to follow her. That was just the way that Amelie was.

Amelie was quiet, Myrnin wasn't surprised, the woman barely spoke any more. It wasn't her fault, she had been this way for a very long time. Ever since she had lost Sam. Myrnin frowned, of all of the things he had gone through in his life. Amelie had gone through the worst.
The loss of someone you loved. Excuse me,Ada saic in that demanding tone she always used. This was true he had lost Ada, who had been one of his assistants and he had killed her on accident but he had felt that Amelie had gone through so much worse.
Ever since that had happened, she was no longer smiling, no longer laughing. No more jokes and pranks or anything. She just sat there like ice. Ice woman, he had heard her call herself that on many a occasion. It was true now more then ever, her affinity aside. He sighed as he watched her think.
He doubted that she was thinking of Sam at the moment. She was now thinking about her friend. She was thinking about Myrnin and how she always had to come and get him. Myrnin sighed, looking down at the dank wet alley floor. He wished that she didn't have to do this all of the time. He just wanted to find the cure and be normal. Have fun again.
He was trying and trying too and it seemed nothing would work, every time he made a little bit of headway in getting better with the cure, it seemed he was thrust five steps back. He shook his head. He didn't know what the hell he was going to do if he didn't find a cure soon...He didn't want to kill another girl...He didn't want another life on his conscience...
Amelie had offered him more and he had declined, he held his stomach thoughtfully. He didn't need more blood, his insanity was at bay for now. For now, he hated that statement. He hated that he had to think like that. At any moment he could go back to being insane without any cause. He hated this...He wanted it to end.
The question was...When would it? When would it be Myrnin's turn? When would he able to go back to being a normal person? He almost shook his head but he didn't want Amelie to see his concern. She needed to know that he was alright, that was something that never changed between them.
They always cared for each other, he was there for her, to get real smiles out of her. Laughter, things that she never shared with another person anymore. That was what Myrnin was to her. To him, she was his old friend as always, as well as someone who always protected him. Normally, Myrnin hated needing to be protected but when it came to this little mess of a situation he always had. He welcomed it.
He ran a hand through his some what knotted brown hair now, he had just made a joke and he saw a little bit of amusement cross her features. It was gone in an instant but, none the less, it was there. He had just wanted to lighten the mood a bit. She responded with someone that didn't really help that though.
She said she was just happy that she was not picking up a body. Myrnin looked down at that, How many times had she found him next to some lifeless female? Crying and blubbering his apologies...He shook his head.
"Me too"he said in nothing more than a whisper. He took a deep breath. He didn't want to feel the guilt for all of those he killed, he didn't want it to wash over him in strong waves like it always did. He sighed and shook his head once more but Amelie was already walking away expecting him to follow of course.
He rolled his eyes, Demanding woman she had always been. That was something else that had never changed. He stood up shakily, trying to get his bearings. He was alright, the world wasn't going topsy turvey or anything like that, so he started following her.
He walked closer to her, picking up his pace a little bit. It made him slightly nauseous but he was going to be fine. He just wanted to have more of a conversation. Something so that he would not be thinking about what had transpired this night.
He opened her car door for her when they reached it and he tried to smile "I hope I did not interrupt anything with this...Perhaps you had been teaching a class"he said with a little bit of a smirk. Something to get his mind off of being a monster...Anything.

Amelie frowned at his whisper. It was a good thing there wasn’t a body here, that was the important part. Not only was it inconvenient as all hell to clean up after when that happened, it was more than that. It had always been more than that even if Amelie never let on that she thought as much. She hated to see him blubbering, guilty and apologizing. Her old friend was brilliant, such a brilliant mind. To see him reduced to that because he couldn’t control his hunger was an awful thing. She preferred to remember him as he was, back in the old days the ice woman missed so much.
Back when she had her Sam.
She didn’t respond to his guilt, she wouldn’t allow herself to. She had to be shut down and iced off in order to…keep herself in order. That was the way that these things worked. And also, she wouldn’t justify his guilt in responding to it. It was a good thing there wasn’t a body and that would be what she focused on, regardless of his guilt. That was the way that she was, and the way that she always would be if he life continued down this track.
And that was when she had moved to go to her car. If he said he was fine, she would trust that. If he was fine than he was fine enough to follow her and she wouldn’t coddle him like others would. He wouldn’t appreciate it, she knew that much, and she knew she didn’t have the capacity anymore to stay and baby the man. He may have…lost it a bit. But he would always be the grinning, capable man that she would always hold dear in her memories because he was the one that managed to keep her sane, and managed to make her smile.
He caught up enough and opened the door for her. She turned to him, and her brow was raised ever so slightly, one corner of her mouth threatening to twitch up ever so slightly. ”Being a gentleman now?” she asked. Only he could have possibly caught the fact that she was teasing, even though there was no hint of it about her face or her voice. Amelie was shut down, had been since she had witnessed what she had as a child. After she had lost everything she had held so dear to herself.
She shook her head and slid into the car, waiting until he got in as well, because she fully expected him to. She knew by now he would want to talk, get his mind off of what happened, and she always happily gave such to him because she knew him well enough to know he would need that. She owed him as much, and even if she hadn’t she would have done it for his sake. He was a friend, her only one anymore in fact. She shook her head, a slightly exhasperated expression on her face. ”I would have gladly let you interrupt that, old friend. It was work, running an empire takes a lot of time out of your day you know” she said to him. She was always running her empire. Something her father had passed down to her, the only useful thing he had bothered to give her if you asked the ice woman.
She studied her old friend for a moment or two before she pulled her car out of where it had been parked, heading no where in particular. Just taking it for a drive so she could distract him as much as she could manage. She wasn’t sure what to ask, Amelie didn’t have conversations anymore. It was sad that this was such work for her. ”Shouldn’t you be teaching, yourself” she asked, veiled amusement in her voice once more. Whoever had given Myrnin a teaching job was clearly off their rocker.

Myrnin couldn't remember the last time he was truly sane. This completely both amused and bemused him and upset him. It had been so long since he was sane, since he never had to worry about hurting someone, whether it be someone he loved or an innocent bystander.
Myrnin sighed a bit as he had that morbid thought. No matter what he did, he had that morbid thought over and over again. When was the last time he was normal? When was the next time he was going to be normal? Would it ever happen? Was he smart enough to make it happen?
He glanced at Amelie and smiled a little, She was so cold now. Not like she had been once, Myrnin remembered that as a time where he was sane. He sighed a bit. Could he not think of something happy?
You could always think of those vampire bunny slippers you have, they always seem to amuse you Ada said sarcastically. Myrnin scoffed a little bit. Ada was right, he did in fact love those slippers, vampire teeth on rabbits. What a Marvelous idea! Who ever came up with it was a smart fellow. At least this was what Myrnin thought.
Myrnin had followed Amelie over to her car and then opened the door for her, she asked if he was being a gentleman now and he laughed a bit. He wasn't attempting to be a gentleman he was just being himself. Myrnin tried to be chivalrous when ever he could.
"Perhaps a good deed such as this will obsolve me a little"he had meant it jokingly of course, but how jokingly could that be taken, especially when they had just walked out of the situation they just did. Myrnin mentally sighed.
He could never do anything right anymore, at least that was how he felt. He hated feeling like this though, he wanted to go back to his lab now and immerse himself into his work. If he did that then at least he could feel like he was doing something, making some step towards finding the cure for what was wrong with him.
He sighed and then slid into the car behind her, slamming the car door shut and then wincing, he had not yet completely recovered from this last bout with his madness and the slamming of the door did nothing for the headache which was now steadily growing instead of declining like it had been.
Great.
Myrnin had said that he hoped he had interrupted anything and perhaps she had been teaching a class and she said that she would have gladly let him interrupt that and he laughed a little bit at her. No he wouldn't imagine that Amelie would want to be spending time teaching these children, even if the other choice was finding him with a dead girl or something to that effect. He shook the thought out of his head quickly before he could give it any more thought.
Anytime he gave it more thought, it led to images and not pleasant ones. Images to every girl who's life he had taken. Every condition they had been left in, from the very worst to the not so bad...there were none that were good because let's face it. They were dead. He smiled though, trying hard to shake the thought off.
" What? Don't love teaching the little children? I am sure they love you. Have they nicknamed you yet? Captain Icy? I rather like that...oh what about Ice nut! Professor Ice?"he said with a small grin.
She had said something else about running her empire but Myrnin disregarded it. He didn't really want to hear about the running of the empire or any of that, though it would have been something to take his mind off of what he had done, it was not a subject he wanted to touch on at the moment.
She then spoke again, saying that shouldn't he be teaching a class and Myrnin thought for a moment. Was tonight a night when he was supposed to be teaching? He honestly had no clue. He sighed thinking of his students waiting for a professor who was not there. What would they think of him? Had he left any of his experiments out? He frowned a little looking at her.
"I honestly haven't the foggiest idea, I teach Chemistry of course but...I have no idea if its going on now...Actually...It's rather funny"he started laughing a bit as he sat there, thinking of what a dimwhit he was. Who forgot whether or not they had to teach a class? Dimwhits thats who.
"Sorry"he said coming down from his fit of laughter, though he had thought it was hilarious, he doubted Amelie was going to feel the same.

Amelie shook her head, sliding into her car after Myrnin had opened the door for her like the gentleman that he truly was. Not that anyone got to see that side of him any longer. It was hard for him these days to show that part of himself, and most peope didn’t see it because all they saw was the crazy. There was so much more to her old friend than the crazy that everyone else saw in him. He used to be the only one that could make her laugh and smile after her father had done a thorough job suppressing that all day long. And then Sam had died.
She pinched the bridge of her nose and pushed that thought down. She would not think of Sam. Not unless she wanted to end up back at the graveyard debating about joining him again. She knew Myrnin needed her, she would not abandone him that way. That was why she had called him here, asked him here really, she needed the support that her friend provided without even knowing it. ”You cannot always blame yourself for this insanity Myrnin” she said, glancing over at him. It was as sweet and considerate as she got.
Amelie hated seeing her friend like this, hated seeing him so upset and falling into madness constantly. She kept this sympathy to herself however. She would never do anything that made her seem weak anymore. And caring for others was weak, her father had taught her that. Anyone could just disappear easily and then where would you be? Attached to someone who was now missing entirely from the world around you? It would only devastate you. But she couldn’t help her attachment to Myrnin, not when it went so deep and was so old between the pair of them.
And then he slid into the car as well and she informed him he wasn’t interrupting anything. She would have been grateful for him to interrupt her at class or something of the sort. She wasn’t the type to be cut out for teaching, she merely did it because she wanted to keep an eye on Myrnin rather than actually a love of children and teaching. They didn’t seem to like her much and she returned the sentiment with a happy push. When he went on so enthusiastically about nicknames she could get, she turned towards him and arched a brow. Really? She shook her head. He was teasing her and he was honestly the only person on this earth who could get away with that now. She didn’t let anyone else even try. Well not without them meeting her sword or something just as dangerous at least. She didn’t take that from people, not anymore.
”Why do all of the nicknames you so joyfully provide have to do with Ice? Perhaps they see through to my soft side” she reciprocated with a small smile. She was joking of course, Amelie no longer had a soft side. And she never would again if she could help it. She hated people assuming otherwise, but the nicknames she was sure she had gained from the students that she taught didn’t interest her enough to pay attention. ”I’m sure you, yourself, have already gotten quite the interesting nickname anyway to top mine” she said as she pulled her car out. And then she regretted the comment. They were trying to keep the conversation away from the idea of him being crazy, not steer it back towards that topic.
”I don’t even want to know why that amused you so” she replied to Myrnin with a shake of her head when he broke into laughter. He said he wasn’t sure if he was supposed to be teaching tonight, typical Myrnin really, and then broke into laughter. She wasn’t sre she wanted to know why, so she refused to ask. Her friend had an odd mind, but so did she in a totally opposite manner. She didn’t want ot know why he would find not knowing whether or not his class was going on tonight so funny.

Myrnin didn't know what to think at the moment. Not at all actually, he was trying so hard to not think about how much he hated himself but it was failing so badly because he always felt this way when this happened. This always happened too, always. He didn't want to think about it anymore though, he didn't want to sit here and think about all the women he killed, all the women he hurt. Everything, he didn't want to think about it. He wanted to think about fun times.
Fun times though, they were so far and few between. He was always working on the cure for the madness that plagued him. He was always failing at finding said cure and it was driving him absolutely nuts. Which was funny being that he was already crazy and that was what had him trying to find a cure in the first place!
Clever Myrnin...Anything else you have to amuse me?he rolled his eyes and he wanted badly to shush Ada, he wished that she would just leave him alone sometimes no matter how much he had loved her when she had been alive and he hadn't killed her...he sighed just another thing to blame himself about.
As if Amelie could read his mind she said to him that he could not always blame himself for what happened when he was insane and he just chuckled. Couldn't he? and if that was so true why was it that he had been doing it for years? He always blamed himself for this and never saw it stopping and not even when he was finally rid of this insanity, he was still going to feel bad for not finding the cure sooner and saving all of those peoples lives that he had destroyed.
"I am always going to blame myself Dear, It's just kind of one of the many downsides of being me"he said with a small smile her way. The sentence he said just sounded completely pitiful but he hadn't intended for it to sound that way. It was just the way he thought what else could you expect out of a crazy person right?
They were sitting inside the car now and Myrnin was trying to do anything but actually sit here and think about what was really going on in his mind. He was wrestling with his self loathing and he didn't want too, he sighed a bit and just sat there trying to keep his mind blank of anything but it was so hard to keep his mind blank when there were so many voices were running around inside his head. His insanity and Ada. Nothing could ever leave him alone...
He had mentioned her icy nicknames and she had commented and it actually made him laugh a little bit. It was around Amelie that he could laugh it was very rare that around any others they could make him laugh. He smiled widely at her
"Soft side darling? I hate to break it to you but your soft side is non existent"meaning it in the best way possible of course. She said she was sure that he got a nickname even worse than hers and he blinked he didn't even think about that.
"Well I never actually thought about what nick names my students may have given me ...hmmm Bunny slipper man? Or maybe that crazy guy who teaches chemistry?"he thought with a little bit of a scoff. He didn't really care what his students called him he heard them all.
Then he had started laughing because of the fact that he didn't remember if he had a class right now because he found it to be really amusing. What if he did have class right now?
"Well It's funny...think about all the students could be patiently waiting for a professor that never shows!"and he started laughing again. Oh this was too funny.

Amelie shook her head at the commentary provided by Myrnin about how he was always going to blame himself. She was well aware of this but she wished so that he wouldn’t anyway. It was just not healthy for the man. He had enough on his plate without dwelling. Amelie, of course, voiced none of this. She felt bad not being able to comfort the man that always had comforted her back when she used to fall apart so constantly, but she didn’t know how to anymore. He understood that though, understood that she had lost her emotions long ago…didn’t he?
She knew he did. Yes, but she still wished she could help him. She provided him with assistants, and the money to buy any chemical he liked, as well as covering up for him whenever he took too much of a step out of line. But that wasn’t really caring was it? She wondered if he knew how much he was the only person he cared for. Anymore. Besides Sam, the cat. Not Sam her lover. He was gone. She sighed again, thinking of him and then shook her head, getting in the car.
She did smile, ever so slightly, when he laughed however. That meant she was at least doing her job slightly as a friend. He laughed more often than she did of course, Amelie didn’t really laugh anymore at all, but that was besides the point. He smiled at her and she shook her head, a faint smile tugging slightly at her usually straight and proper lips, that never tugged into a smile around anyone else. Usually she was hard and uncompromising. ”Well, a soft side will just get me hurt now, won’t it” she replied with a shake of her head. She had, of course, had a soft side once. It was non-existant now.
Just like Myrnin said. He knew her so well.
The faint amusement that had first turned up at the start of this conversation was still there however. It was hard for her to let go of it around him, even if he was doing something that utterly frustrated her, which he did do from time to time. Well, more than time to time but she tried to keep it to herself. Myrnin didn’t need to know of such things, of course. He had enough on his plate, and Amelie didn’t want him worrying anymore than he had to.
”I believe those are too complicated to count as nicknames, Myrnin. Most students prefer a two name nickname or something of the sort, its less for their little minds to bother with” she said with a shake of her head. It was clear, from the way she acted to her demeanor, that Amelie didn’t care for students. That she was ruthless and cold and the idea of being a frivolous child did not appeal to her in the slightest. But that was just Amelie. She refused to let go of the way she was, she refused to soften. She would be the cold hearted ruler of an empire. Just like father had wanted.
She scowled at that thought, though she relaxed a tad bit more when Myrnin started laughing. She shook her head at him, again, then. She wasn’t sure why he found that so amusing, but she let him. It was amusing to him, so she just let it go. Waiting for a professor that never showed…it was probably just another reason on a long list Amelie had as to why Myrnin should not be teaching. But she let him laugh, grateful that he could even after going crazy and nearly killing a child.
She stopped her car by a river then, done with her aimless driving for the sake of driving. For a moment her eyes misted over, and a nostalgia took over. It almost reminded her of the rivers back home in Venice. She missed it there terribly. Most days she wondered why she even stayed here, and then she remembered. She had built her empire here, and now she must care for it. But…She shook her head. ”One of these days old friend…we should return home. If only for a little while” Her voice sounded almost whistful, which was odd for her. And only the person who sat beside her would ever hear it in her voice. But it was there. An odd longing…she couldn’t help…
