Tabitha wasn't one to invade her student’s lives, but this one she wanted to check on. She also didn’t like prying into people’s love lives, but this one was surprising. She couldn’t believe that the cutest couple in school broke up, and over what? Tabitha didn’t know, but she did know that she didn’t like seeing her students upset. So, tonight, she was going to talk to one of them. Pride Osiris, he was acting very odd lately. Not odd as in crazy or insane, but odd as in cautious and careful. It didn’t seem like he was talking to a lot of people and Raea just didn’t look at him. She didn’t look like a total mess -in fact you could say after the dance she seemed more confident and brave- but she did look guilty at times, especially when she looked at Pride. Tabitha didn’t like this. She didn’t like that her students, especially her two BEST students, were not talking and acting very different from their usual characters. While Raea’s personality change seemed it was for the better, it was good to be confident; Pride’s seemed it wasn’t for the better. He worried her actually. He wasn’t smiling as much, he seemed very withdrawn. That’s why Tabby told him after class that she wanted to meet him after school that day. Just to talk to him and see how he was doing, maybe she could even get him out of his funk, but she doubted that. Tabby pulled her hair out of the bun it was in from the day and pulled her glasses off. She sighed and pressed her fingers to her eyes. She looked at the door then her watch. Twenty minutes until school ended. She had time to get some papers graded or musical set lists to get done. Tabitha looked at her cat and saw that her white kitten was sleeping on a manila folder with test papers in them. She giggled and started typing a word document for the musical cast, then stopped and sent a quick email to Vincent and closed the laptop. She leaned back in her chair and looked around her office. It was presentable. A knock came at her door and her head looked to the noise. Amelia looked up and meowed, tail moving side to side. Tabitha smiled and hummed, placing her laptop into her bag. “It’s open dear, you can come in.” She saw her cat jump down from the desk and walk over to the door, her usual greeting. Pride Osiris was not in the mood to talk to anyone. And not because of some stupid dramatic reason, or because he was having a bad day or something. No, Pride just didn’t want to talk to anyone. He, personally, didn’t think that it was a big deal. It was his own issues, his own problems and he would work through them just fine on his own. And so what if he couldn’t sleep anymore without nightmares….right? That was fine. He could deal with that too. Other people had nightmares all the time last time he checked.
Pride frowned and made a mental note to call Adrian, or Ree, or Mara, or Dorian. It didn’t matter who, just someone from home. Someone who knew what he had been through so he didn’t have to explain everything. He just didn’t want to talk anymore, didn’t want to talk about anything at all. It was his own issues and he would work through it in his own way. So what if he never moved anymore or went to class. So what if his appearance shifted so often with his affinity he couldn’t remember what he looked like for a while. That was his business and other people didn’t need to know about it.
It didn’t help that he had overwhelming guilt to deal with to. He couldn’t save Raea, he couldn’t help her or save her and to make matters worse, he had been part of the bait that had made her go through all that. And part of him resented her too. He hated that part of himself. Hated the part that said it was because that sadistic asshole wanted her that he had to relive all of that again. But he couldn’t seem to shut it out. The guilty part was stronger…but not strong enough to lock out the other part that he so desperately wished he could push down. He loved her. Did he still love her? He thought so.
Pride didn’t have the best luck with love though. Just look at his past. He had fallen in love with his own half sister. Given that neither of them had known they were related, but was that really an excuse? That was over now at least, now she was just…his sister.
Pride sighed and refused to move from his bed. Juno was curled up by his side, and he was going to stay there. He knew he was supposed to go see Professor Hall, his mentor, because she was worried about him. But he also knew he was supposed to go to classes and he hadn’t been doing that either lately, so why not just conveniently forget about that too? Pride didn’t used to be this way. Once upon a time, no matter what shit hit him, he kept smiling and made a point to try and find the happy side in everything. He reached a hand up and, without his affinity, he felt the bumps on the top and bottom of his lips, scars. How could he keep smiling about the torture he had been through? About how it had been so similar to…to…
He sighed. No, he was not going.
Juno whined and nudged his hand. She knew he was supposed to go. She knew he had things to do, she was always tryig to get him out of bed for the past week for more than a trip to the cafeteria at odd hours when he knew no one was there. He was stuck in his own personal pity party, something he never used to do, and he wasn’t ready to leave it yet.
Juno was right though.
The usually chipper young man sighed and pushed himself out of bed, running his hand through hair that was growing out too long but he didn’t want to cut it lately. It would grow out too long soon but he doubted he’d bother to cut it then either. A little scruff never hurt anyone. And with that thought he scrubbed his hands against his cheeks. Yep, a little scruff. Oh well. He shook his head and he stood, stretching, pulling his affinity back on like an old friend to cover the scars and bruises that were still there even weeks later. He had tried for so long to keep it together, to not tell Raea he had to leave…but he had to. He couldn’t look at her anymore. Just couldn’t.
Maybe soon he’d feel better. But for now, he was stuck in this funk for a while longer.
He hoped she understood.
He knew she didn’t though.
Now fully dressed in clean clothes, he had remembered to clean them last night, he made his way to the Professor’s offices, with Juno right by his side. She refused to leave his side once, and that was something he was grateful for, he needed her presence. He had been debating calling home just to ask Reese or Adrian to visit, just to help take his mind off of things. He shook his head. But at the same time he really didn’t want either one of them seeing him like this if he could manage to help it. He knew it was only a matter of time until he needed them though…He sighed and knocked on Professor Hale’s door. Once upon a time he loved seeing his mentor, they got along very well, and she had always encouraged him.
But he dreaded talking to people these days.
He sucked it up and entered when she said to, dipping to pet Amelia, the sweet white cat, and then turned his attention to Professor Hale, his hand back on Juno’s side, and she was pressed stubbornly against him. ”You wanted to see me, Professor?” he inquired, intending to sound normal. Maybe if he seemed normal he wouldn’t have to talk too much and she would just let him get back to where he didn’t have to deal with things. Dealing with things…didn’t work out well for him these days.

When Pride walked in Tabby looked up and frowned slightly. Poor boy looked miserable, well that’s what the outward appearance said, his voice sounded normal, though Tabby knew he was a good actor. For all she knew he could be acting. She smiled at him and motioned for him to sit down. “Please sit down, dear. It’s been a while since we’ve last spoken, and since I last saw you. You haven’t been going to any of your classes lately.” Vampyres, they knew everything about their students, and Tabitha made sure to know what was going on in her fledglings lives. Amelia meowed a hello to Pride’s dog and she hopped up to the desk again, sitting down on the corner of the desk. Tabitha looked at her cat then back to the fledgling sitting in front of her. His hair was growing longer, which wasn’t a bad look for the boy. She remembered for Halloween last year he grew it out longer than that, as well as slight scruff, pirate that was it. “Do you want to tell me what’s been going on? It’s alright if you don’t but I’d appreciate it if you wouldn’t put on an act, I know how well you can do that.” She sat back slightly in her chair and watched his dog now. The husky wasn’t leaving his side; she stuck to him like glue. She just pressed against him, and his hand didn’t leave her fur. Tabitha sighed and wondered what these two went through the past few weeks. The fledgling didn’t seem like he wanted to go anywhere, especially since his appearance looked a bit scruffier. Usually boys his age either kept their hair short, did that damn Justin Bieber cut (how a human with no talent got that famous she’d never know), or they buzzed it. His was… Tabby blinked and rubbed her eyes. It had been a long day, in all honesty if she wanted to she could have cancelled this meeting and told him to meet her tomorrow, but she didn’t do that, she didn’t want to do that. This boy needed help and even though it seemed like he didn’t want to talk to anybody, he needed to talk to someone. “Pride, you know you can come to me whenever you have a problem right? Big or small you can talk to me. Even if it’s in the middle of the night you can come and talk to me.” Day night, she never was used to that. Day to them was a human’s night, and a human’s day was their night. It never made sense and Tabby still had trouble with that whole deal. Mind’s wandering off! She shook her head slightly to get back to the train of thought that was Pride Osiris. She looked down to the papers then looked back up to him and sighed. Ameila meowed and walked over to her vampyre, sitting in her lap and purring happily. Tabitha scratched her cat’s head, watching her fledgling for any movements that were out of the ordinary. Actors could hide many things, but they couldn’t hide everything. Words: 526 Comments: This is longer than my last one, yay! Muse: Getting better! Outfit: Click
